I plan on getting a new 3DS at some point and was wondering if one SD card is preferable over another or are they all the same?

I see there are 3 SanDisk brand SD cards in 16 and 32gb size recommended by Nintendo for the new 3DS. Is there any difference?

I know SanDisk is the brand of SD card my 3DS XL came with.

I bought a 64gb Sony Micro SDXC card for my N3DSXL.

Already formatted it to FAT32 so that it will work (since exFAT will not work on 3DS).

I guarantee that within the next two years the current model will be phased out and the New 3DS will get a normal SD card slot that you don't need a screwdriver to access. Holding off on it for now but I am getting Majora's Mask in five minutes off the eShop.

You did what with the who? Explain. So I can't just pick up an SD card and plug it in?

That depends. The SD card you picked up may already be formatted in FAT32 (normally are by default)
