N64 is pretty much done. Just waiting on a handful of games to arrive.

Next up, Neo geo pocket color collection...

Congrats  ;D

Thanks!

I sorta didn't even know I was done, and then Carmageddon showed up yesterday (which I'd forgotten that I purchased).  I opened the package and was like "oh, I think I'm done now" :P
If you want a complete NGPC collection you will have to spend a lot of money especially if you want the nice EU clamshell versions.

Oh no, just the consoles themselves.  I've got 6/8 of the slim model, and a few of the phat. They're pretty affordable, and there's only ONE pricey special edition that I know of, and it's the Hashin Tiger's model. Compared to collecting all those micros, this will be a snap ;)

Besides, I would only be looking to collect a loose set of carts anyway.  Making covers is half the fun in collecting for me :)

The phat version is how I refer to the normal version.

The slim model was only released in Japan and had a few exclusive colors that the larger model didn't (transparent yellow, transparent green/blue, and pearl blue).  Doesn't look a whole ton smaller in pics, but it feels significantly different in your hands.

And here's the slim compared to a B&W NGP

Purchased on Jan 31st at auction, brought it home Feb 1st... so I'm gonna put it in this thread  ;D

I'm juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a little bit stoked.

All 4 slots working!!!  Monitor's pretty nice, cosmetic condition is strong, not perfect but strong.  Need to replace some of the microswitches, but those are cheap.

Dude, it's gonna be tough for anyone to top that this month, and it's only the 4th.

Very cool.

Thankyathankya.

You have NO idea man.  There was some "local" (45 minute east) auction for arcade machines going on.  Randomly found it on craigslist (since I always look for Neo stuff in any place within 2 hours drive of me).  There was something like 50 games for sales, but most importantly the Neo -- a 2slot and 2 4slots for auction, and mine was the 3rd (and nicest) of the three.  The 2slot went for $210, with Metal Slug 2 and Windjammers which was a steal at that price, except it was the first one auctioned so the 3-4 of us clearly there for Neo were just kinda testing the waters -- and MS was glitchy, with pretty heavy vertical lines through everything.  I probably should have popped it open and reseated/switched the carts to test if it was the cart or the slot, but I was being cautious.  The 1st 4slot had intermittent sprite glitches in all 4 games, and went for I think $320, but it had some nice games too -- I can't remember what, but it was "3 decent games, and 1 $75+ game".  Mine was by far the nicest, only one that didn't have any glitchy slots, and came with Bust a Move (boot, but there's more boots than legit carts of that out there), Samurai Shodown 3 (legit), World Heroes 2 (legit), and Blazing Star (legit).

EL panels are dead on the mini-marquee but that seems common.  Couple microswitches need to be replaced, but that's cheap.  P1 joystick isn't hitting diagonals for some reason, I think it might just be installed improperly because it's a replacement stick.

I won mine for $410 (plus tax + auction fees), but as my buddy pointed out I got $150 worth of games out of it too so that softens the blow.  Was the ABSOLUTE top end of my budget, if the other dude I was bidding against had went one more time I would've been out (self control bolstered by registering as a cash buyer and only bringing a certain amount).  I was freaking shaking when he called "Sold!" and pointed at me.

And then?  After getting up at 0700 to shower and pick up my buddy to go with me and get there by 0900 for the preview (auction started at 1000, but you needed time to test them out beforehand), I had to work 1600-0800.  With a head cold.  I was SHOT by the end of it, and yet I came home, took a 3.5 hour nap, and went out to go pick up my new baby.  The good news is I then had 2 days off to tinker with it and recover from my cold.

Nice find! And at the price you paid, you definitely got a good deal out of it too! I paid about the same ($450) for my 4 Slot Ver. 2 a couple years back and I was more than happy to do so! I saved mine from a dusty barn one day when my girlfriend was competing in a small local horse riding competition. It was raining that day so we had to move to the indoor rising arena where I saw it powered on in the dirty corner at the back of the spectators booth. I wish I could have seen the look on my face when I immediately looked at my girlfriend with wide eyes after having seen it only 2 seconds after entering the room. I had to have it, and I wasn't taking know for an answer. I insisted she go talk to the property owner immediately! ;D

The EL Panels were dead on mine too when I got it, but I've since then replaced them. It was pretty straight forward, and only basic soldering skills are required. These EL Panels in white should do the trick. And they can be trimmed down to size: http://www.glowhut.com/a6-size-electroluminescent-back-lightpanellam6.html

And with the cabinet sitting in a barn for however long, the power supply was pretty dirty and the fan was pretty much shot. I ended up replacing that as well with an exact replacement which was just a simple swap out. They usually run about $50 if you ever want a fresh one:http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=232

Anyway, enjoy your new MVS and try not to go too crazy buying new games! It's easy to get carried away... ;)

I think I saw that auction. That was the one with the Apollo 11 pinball machine, right? It was about an hour and a half away, and I've been looking to start an arcade collection, but decided not to go, as I had work and have no way of taking it home.

Nice find though! I entirely envy you.

Very nice pickup.   ;D

I hope to have just one arcade as part of my collection some day.  But I won't even look at them until after my basement is finished.  Way too much to do before even thinking about it.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."
