What would it take for that to occur? You know Dreamcast is still getting some new titles this year. Amazing. It would be a dream for me if PS1, SNES, GEN, NES etc came out with new games. I mean don't you think there is a good enough market? There are more nostalgic gamers than ever. Why can't there be a niche market for this?

I just feel I may be done with newer consoles. Some games are good, but they are starting to feel cinematic and what I really love is pure gameplay, not tons of cut scenes. Anyone else feel the same way?

NES homebrews have been popping up here and there, with titles like the hellishly difficult Battle Kid. But it would be great to see a surge of great new titles.
My cover requests:

Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Shovel Knight (3ds/WiiU)

You'll see homebrews like Justice Beaver pop up, the there isn't enough of a market for licensed games to ever be released for discontinued systems.

First party developers will never do it because it would simply steal sales from their current consoles and possibly appear as an admission of guilt that the new systems just aren't that great.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

While not new you could always play game hacks. I love playing hacks for Super Mario World and Castlevania NES. Its the games you love with new levels, enemies, etc

What is a homebrew game? I don't quite understand. Are the new Dreamcast games home brewn? Also will there ever be reproduction of games if run out?

Homebrew is software made by hobbyists for systems without having a licence from the hardware creator. They can either be totally original games (like Super Bat Puncher), hacks which are alterations of old games, or just a software program (like a media player for the wii). The new dreamcast games would be considered homebrew, I believe.

Most of these kinds of games don't get mass produced because they can just be played on an emulator or a flashcart.

To name few good ones:

SNES
- Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds Redone 1.1 (or non-redone version = original, if you prefer hellish difficulty).
- Super Mario World: Return to Dinosaur Island.
- Super Mario World 2+1 (I call it Yoshi's Island 2)
- Super Mario World 2+2 (I call it Yoshi's Island 3)
- Super Metroid redesing

NES

Too many good Zelda, Zelda 2, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Castlevania and Mega Man 1-4 (5&6?) hacks to list.
