Are there any video mods on that thing, or is it only lights and the controller ports?

Where did the other controller ports go?

Buddy made a detachable adaptor that plugs into the back of the console.

Why?  This is really confusing to me.  Leave 2 ports?  Why not just remove them all?

No clue but it looks cool. One without any controller ports would be wicked.

I'm really confused as to why removing a fraction of the controller ports (only to have to put them in an ugly detachable box) is a cool thing to do ??? I've never seen anyone do that with a Dreamcast or anything.  It seems entirely arbitrary/pointless unless you're gonna make a set of wireless controllers to go with it (which isn't all that hard to do...)

Agree with you on this.

It looks great but don't understand why remove part of the controller ports ???

One of the few systems that doesn't require a multi tap to play 4 player games.

So lets remove some of the controller ports so that it needs a multi tap..... :P

It's still a cool system though. ;)

I have like 12 other n64's to play multiplayer on. I wanted something different.

Don't get me wrong, it does look cool. Just sorta puzzled by the controller thing.

Bust a Move 99 showed up today as well, but it's in the middle of receiving an experimental procedure :)

Expiring coins, had to grab something.

So I figured out a way to transplant N64 labels pretty much perfectly by accident while working out a new way to strip donor cart of their labels. Bust a move arrived in a rough shell with a really decent label.  So, using an extra copy of Cruis'n, I did this.

How?

You left the details out on purpose to keep us in suspense, didn't you?

Um, no. I would never do that...

It's actually painfully simple. Like laughably.

• Pour a small amount of isopropyl into a small ziplock bag
• Place cart face down into bag, making sure that the entire label is soaking in the isopropyl
• Wait. You'll be able to see the isopropyl seep into the label. It will become darker around the edges as it soaks in, and eventually work its way through the entire label
• Pull the cart once it's thoroughly saturated (I'd wait about 2-3 minutes after the label appears saturated just to be safe. If it's not fully saturated then you run the risk of tearing the label)
• The label should all but peel itself off at this point. I use an xacto blade to nudge up one of the bottom corners, then just grab and start pulling.

Make sure to pull up, and not back. That is, don't pull the label in such a way that it is folding back on itself. You run the risk of creasing it if you stress it too much. Pull directly up, perpendicular to the face of the cart as best you can. The flatter you can keep the label while removing it, the better.  But don't stress about it. It's really not all that delicate. Just be mindful so that you get the best possible results :)

• Place the label onto the new shell ASAP. The adhesive is softened while it's still saturated with isopropyl, which give you some play while placing it. When it dries (which doesn't take more than a minute or so), the adhesive will become VERY tacky again. You won't easily be able to move it once it's touched the cart shell. You'd have to be 100% spot-on with the placement right off the bat.

If it does dry out a bit, and you place it incorrectly, then just hit it with some more isopropyl to soften the adhesive again.  ;)

That's it. Takes about 10 minutes, and 90% of that time is spent just waiting. So grab your gameboy, play some Tetris, and wait for the magic to happen :D
