Has collecting ever affected you emotionally?

Hoggs17:
Wants vs. Needs should be applied to everything in life, and anything discussed in TCP should in all honesty fall into the "wants" category (for most logical people).  If you're neglecting more pressing matters (family, job, health) for the sake of a hobby, I doubt there is anything learning in a online forum that is going to be able to help you.

For me, I find that (second to playing the games, obviously), I find owning all of them in the series to be very satisfying. A sort of "well, now I''ve completed the series" feeling that exists on top of actually completing the the games. I actually have a list with all of the games I'm missing written down, and I go and cross stuff off whenever I get anything new.

And that means that NOT collecting emotionally affects me - after all, the list of Mario games I'm still missing tends to grow by the month!

As has been noted several times before though, collecting should be all about 'want', and not a matter of 'need'. I'm not crazy about my list-managing ways, it just lets me appreciate my collection in a different way, especially because right this exact moment I don't have the space to put out and display most of my collection, so I don't often get to visually see what I have.
