I go to a lot of thrift stores and garage sales. That's where I pick up most of my awesome deals. On older games.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

I've gotten to the point in my life where I almost exclusively buy games on eBay and Amazon. I am older now and I don't have the time to go thrift store hunting or garage sailing. I'd rather pay a premium price in exchange of the convenience of having the game delivered without wasting so much time hunting in the wild for games I may never find.

I buy most of my games locally, either at retro stores or through CraigsList. I don't trust Ebay, and Amazon's usually a last resort when I can't find something nearby.

Wiggy have you ever been down to Warp Zone near Columbus?  It is my favorite retro shop.  They specialize in imports and the employees are as friendly as they come.  Only place I have ever seen Neo Geo stuff for sale.

Oh do you live near Columbus too? I love Warp Zone! I used to work at a local store here called Video Games Express in the SNES thru GameCube days. Good times!

No I live in Rochester New York.  I went to Columbus last year for work and stumbled upon Warp Zone.  I wish it were closer but I always make a point to stop when I am somewhat close.

Mostly the pawn shops. I've been visiting pawn shops since i was 6. Shows like 'pawn stars' have ruined my secret to collecting. Well the internet on phones kind of killed it to now that pawn shop owners can see how much what they are selling is worth.

Besides that, i'll get games online, the local gameshop and Gamestop

There's only one thrift store nearby that's worth going to for games. Our pawn shop has decent prices for games. I don't like going to game-only stores because the employees tend to act weird. We had one good game store with a really cool owner but it went bankrupt a few months ago. Otherwise I use Amazon.

For old games:
- Online forums
- Local retro store
- Ebay

For new games:
- Amazon
- Ebay
- Brick and Mortar only if they have a good deal.

I look for old games at pawn shops, but I haven't found a worthwhile game from one since at least 6 years ago.

Where on forums does one go to get games?

Depends on what system you are looking for. I get a lot of stuff from Atariage.com and nintendoage.com. Forums dedicated to the system usually have good sale threads

Craigslist for me. I'm always hunting of PSP games I don't have in my collection and I'm one of those jerks who ask to buy your 10 PSP games for $2.50 ea  ;D

About 1 out of 7 CL listings will do it. And that feeds my madness...

Oh and TRASH CANS!!!!!! I've attained dozens of games just by paying attention driving out of my neighborhood to trash cans! I'm not talking dumpster driving, I've seen an SNES on the top of a trash can pile and also found 5 games with it! One of them was Super Mario World! I've found games in the trash can 3 times so far without even really trying.  :)
