Where Do You Buy Your Games At?

Pianomanfreak:

Hey everyone I would like to know where do you buy your games at? For me I buy them at Pawn shops, Wal-mart, GameStop Estarland and Amazon.

Gutling:

I stop in random thrift stores whenever I see them and check them out, found some great deals in some. I stay away from pawn shops and most flea market stalls dedicated to video games, they tend to want more than ebay/average prices for stuff.

And a local game shop I visit regularly and made friends with, they normally have good deals on retro stuff every other week and get nice stuff traded in sometimes.

For old games:
- Online forums
- Local retro store
- Ebay

For new games:
- Amazon
- Ebay
- Brick and Mortar only if they have a good deal.

I look for old games at pawn shops, but I haven't found a worthwhile game from one since at least 6 years ago.

Megatron:

New games are almost exclusively at Best Buy - since I get 20% off of new games.

Used is where ever I can find them lower than expected, so craigslist, eBay (sometimes) and thrift stores mostly.  Local gamestores are hit or mis for me.  Nothing that great in San Diego.  Syracuse NY has a few good ones that are reasonable.  And I used to use eStarland when I lived in Fairfax.

Piano, if you live in NoVa, go to Woodbridge and check out Village Thrift.  I used to have some epic pickups there on Wednesdays.  N64 games, SNES, Genesis, PS1, etc.  All for like $2 or $3 each.  lots of retro systems too.   Alot of times, I would actually buy dirt cheap from Village Thrift and trade in to eStarland for credit.  Got a dirt cheap Wii U when a few years ago because of it.

My city has a local flea market in the summer and I can find a few good things there. There is one vender there who always sells games but I avoid him unless he has something I really want. He doesn't negotiate and he doesn't actually play any of the games so I object to him in general. In my opinion, if you are unwilling to negotiate you don't want to sell it (at a flea market).

I like rummage sales for most games but lately I have been finding a lot of people trying to sell them at Ebay prices. My believe that if they want Ebay prices they should list them on Ebay where I actually get buyer protection. I found one guy who always has a rummage in my town he sells games at $2 a pop, some of which are really good.

Ebay/Amazon/Craigslist I will browse and only pounce if I find a sweet deal. I normally use them after I had a bad run at the flea market and have my left over fun money.

There used to be a local game shop but they closed just when I got a good job with expendable income. I was sad. Now I have to drive 45min to big cities to find any shops. One of the shops used to have a stand at the flea market but bought a store front. I enjoy talking to them and the negotiate prices even with a store front.

I like going to gamestops for fun and price things out. Lately alot of xbox360/wii/ps3 games are dropping in price so I will buy them there for cheap. I probably spent enough money there to pay for their hourly wages. They only have to put up with me insisting on booklets, inspecting the disks, and asking for better covers.
