Just because a movie was released on DVD doesn't mean it shouldn't make its way to Blu-Ray and then Netflix. Studios are always cleaning up movies for new formats.

Games should be treated the same way. In other words, I love Remastering.

But at the same time, all re-releases are not made equal.  For every James Bond blu-ray upgrade or Transformers film, there are 10 first edition Robocops and Terminator 2s.  If the remastering sucks or it's lazy, it was a waste of money - see half of the bargain bin blu rays.  I was so happy to see Gremlins 2...only to find it BARELY better quality than my DVD version.  Game example?  God of War collection PS3, Final Fantasy X - ps3, and Injustice on PS4.  Just flat out upgraded ports.
Do something new with it that I can't get on the original console.  GTA V added FPS mode, Last of Us improved gameplay dramatically, and Metro collection was just gorgeous.

It would be cool if Nintendo did a physical release of a Ducktales/Link between Worlds style remastering for a lot of the best Super Nintendo games.

I hope we get the Legend of Heroes PSP to PS3 remakes like in japan.

I'm kind of on the Fence about this.   I like some older titles, but what I would like to see is a NEW GAME typically.  It would be an AWESOME feature or DLC to have the old game playable in the New Engine, but to re-release a game on  a new engine just seems crazy.

Ohh and it's ALL A CASH GRAB, not just remasters, but EVERY GAME RELEASE EVER. They are always looking how to suck every additional cent out of us in some way or another, it's how business works.  No Profit, no reason to pursue!  Free DLC will only get less common.

I'm on the fence about the remake/remastered debate too.  It is kinda cool to get updated versions of some classic games (ala Ducktales or Castle Of Illusion), but there also seems to be a bunch of releases that really don't need to be remade or remastered.  Doesn't really surprise me though.  Hollywood does it with movies all the time.  The music industry does it with albums.  It's only natural for the video game industry to follow suit.
