I like that Resident Evil is gonna be cheap (I think I saw $20) and the collections like Halo are cool too. I just hate the last gen upgrades like GTA V and Last of Us, there's no need for a rerelease on those already unless it's in a collection or cheap, not at full price again.

I kind of give The Last of Us a pass.  Mainly because it was a ps3 exclusive.  a lot of people switched to ps4 who didnt have a ps3, so they may not have had a chance to play it.  plus they really updated the gameplay.  i am with you on gta.  i know they added stuff, but it just seems like a rehash.  the halo collection was primarily to sell halo 2 remastered, so the rest was kind of a bonus.
Other than that i look at it on a case by case basis.  sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 4?  i feel those are cash ins.  exclusives are tricky and it depends on the game.    anything older than last gen (so before 360 and ps3), i feel like thats probably fine, so long as they dont price gouge.  i like what capcom is doing w resident evil.  $20 for a 12 year old game is worth it.

The Resident Evi HD remaster is fair price but,  so far it is digital download only for the  PS3, PS4 and xbox one in North American.

some of these HD remakes are getting out of hand. i know its nice and all to bring a old game back to life but there is a cut off point before you drive the game into the ground

These aren't even old games anymore; they are "remastering" games from last year!  Really?  USF4?  FFX/X-2 remaster REMASTER? DMC?  It would be different if they were ps1/ps2 era games and completely re-upping them but these are such cop outs.  Not with games from 2013.  10% better graphics?  Can't wait for the Dragon Age Inquisition remaster release in 6 months.  So far the PS4 is the PS3.5

the worst one i think is Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider. I bought both on the Steam Summer sale only to have my teeth kicked in with definitive editions Tomb Raider for PS4 and XBone and Sleeping Dogs for PC and the other 2. But still its not right

Aren't most sports games and fps genre games just yearly remakes?  Sometimes not even a remakes as they are in the same engine.

The buying public has dictated that we will buy rehash after rehash, so why wouldn't they continue to knock them out for a quick buck?

This isn't a new thing though,  how many remakes of pacman, frogger, space invaders, etc, etc have been released as the systems got better.  The only way it will stop is if the buying public speak with their wallets.

aye i say it every year when a sports title makes game of the year when the same one comes out every year with a the next year on the box. I mean the ONLY sports game i play is NBA Jam on Sega Genesis.

In the past, it made sense to have a sports game come out each year so that they could update team rosters, new teams, etc.  However, today it seems like all of that could be covered in what would probably be considered the most appropriate use of DLC.

A good example would be the NASCAR games.  These days, drivers and sponsors change so much, the games are months out of date by the time they are released.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

It looks like the DMC: DEVIL MAY CRY DEFINITIVE EDITION is getting an MSRP of $40. Also, it looks like Capcom is going to release  DEVIL MAY CRY 4 SPECIAL EDITION next year. What are they not re releasing next year with the current remaster games line up looking like this.

Dark Souls II
Devil May Cry 4
DMC: DEVIL MAY CRY DEFINITIVE EDITION
FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD
Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster

Lol the only sports games I ever played were "non"sports.  NBA Jam, nfl blitz, mutant league football (I played it for months on end, one of my favorite games ever)

It seems like this generation of system is getting a lot more re release game/remaster/remake then the last with a few games that never got released in North American like J-STARS VICTORY VS+ and Final Fantasy Type 0.

Here's a current and upcoming re released/remaster games for the PS4/xbox one
Dark Souls II
Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry 4 special edition
God Eater 2: Rage Burst (JPN release)
Grand Theft Auto V
J-STARS VICTORY VS+
Rayman Legends
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
The Last of US remaster
Tomb Raider DEFINITIVE EDITION

You forgot one:

Grim Fandango Remastered FTW!!!  ;D

Other than that, I find this subject definitely is a bit of a cash grab. But, honestly, you can't blame them, seeing as making big-box games like that are expensive as heck, and it's also a good way to fix the problems anyone found with the game. Besides, they're not always the exact same. Take GTA 5's remake. It's got a first person mode, and a whole bunch of new content. Should they be making new games? Yes. Should they ditch a license on a game that's still making money? Probably not.

Honestly it seems like they remake games that are newer or popular now, but there are some remakes that people would love if they made them. Personally the Sonic 2 HD fan project being restarted recently is dream come true for me and yet when this has seen so much interest over the years the closest Sega ever came was chemical plant in Sonic Generations. I know some who would love a 2.5D Mega Man remake or something in that range! It just seems to me that sometime companies don't pick the right games for remakes.
To be this good it takes AGES!

I forgot to mention two more upcoming games then Resident Evil HD Remaster and Ultra Street Fighter IV.
