I know what they are, just wondering why Nintendo made them hard to collect. I'm not jumping thru hoops for these stupid toys. If I can't just casually pick em up here and there, for regular price or less, then I don't want em.

Matter of fact, if they will never be regular "always in stock", I'll probably get rid of Marth, the only one I have. Don't even like Fire Emblem.

M guess is incompetence and lack of foresight.
They probably did not exspect them to sell this well, especially the lesser known charicters.

Why did they make them limited? Skylanders and Disney Infinity aren't like this are they? I only have the 3 that came with Spyro's Adventure and I never bought any Infinity or other Skylanders version yet, so I don't know for sure.

The difference with those games is that they require the figures in order to play as the characters.  Amiibo are not required to use the character, they just add a little something extra, kind of like DLC.

Apparently certain Skylanders were quite difficult to find at times. And as Megatron said, these aren't required to play the game, so they're not really essential. Nintendo also likely doesn't have the infrastructure to mass produce 49 different amiibo characters for long periods of time, especially since they probably want to get as many of them out while the game they promote is still fresh.

Nintendo is a very stringent company that always endeavours to make a profit. It's how they have survived for over 100 years. They won't make more than what there is demand for. Yes, they have probably underestimated demand, but at the same time, I'm positive that there are plenty of opportunists out there who are pre-ordering limited amiibo in order to take advantage of others by reselling them for ridiculous prices.

If anything, it just means that if we want a better chance at beating the odds, then we all need to band together and help one another out!

An interesting graph:
http://www.reddit.com/r/amiibo/comments/2pmuur/i_cant_believe_my_little_amiibo_is_this_cheap_an/

So far my spending.
Walmart - $112
Toys R Us - $145
Marth - $18
Meta Knight (BB) - $14
Shulk (GS) - $14
Rose/Luma (Game) - $25

$330 for 29 Amiibos, and average of $11.30 on each Amiibo, and saved $75 using the buy one get one 40% off at TRU and buying full price.

I think I'm going to wait and see what happens with all these.  I've been a completionist on many, many other things, but I'd be happy to just pick up the original N64 fighters plus a few others I like. If I can get others later, great; if not I'm okay with it. Though I'm definitely grabbing the eventual Mr. Game & Watch.

Even funnier because at first I had the sound off and I thought it was a black guy pulling his tooth out to get an Amiibo. I was like, "wow those are tough to get!" Turns out it was one of those anti smoking PSA's, a commercial that played before the video.

So I went to Walmart as they opened at 6AM here, They've got nothing new. I was hoping to catch their first batch of wave 2 amiibo, to get my hands on a Captain Falcon and Pit. I went to the Super Walmart 20 minutes later and found the same thing, about half a dozen wave 1 amiibo. The guy there said they usually get their Nintendo stuff on Fridays, so maybe I'll try again tomorrow...

Has anyone found Captain Falcon or Pit? My buddy at Gamestop said that their Captain Falcons were delayed and won't be getting them for awhile. Also, managed to find a ton of Luigi at my local Toys r Us yesterday.

Just checked Best Buy online to see Ike and King Dedede were sold out. Preordered the entirety of wave 3. It's officially a sickness.

so let's see, 51 characters times $12.95 each, not counting tax since some countries don't have it, and we're looking at a $660 hobby.  Again, before tax and assuming you can get all at retail value.  Not accounting for sales or discounts.  Yikes.  kind of glad I stayed out of this one for the most part.

Toys r Us has frequent 3 for 30 or buy one get one 40% off sales, but their amiibo are also priced at 13.99. Here in California, A lone amiibo runs about $15.35 after tax.
