Hey guys,

I'm a newbie to requests, but have been creating GBA cases for a while. I'd like to first say thanks to everyone for the outstanding covers, I absolutely love them and I think they look fantastic.

In any event, in the course of my cover creation I noticed a few Japanese GBA games I had that didn't have created covers on the site. Here is my list, I've already uploaded the raw scans of the boxes.

Chobits
- Front+Back Zip - via MegaUpload

Densetsu No Stafy 2
- Front+Back Zip - via MegaUpload

Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian
- Front+Back Zip - via MegaUpload

Tomato Adventure
- Front+Back Zip - via MegaUpload

If I knew more about Photoshop and creating these I'd gladly make them myself and upload, but this is the best I can do. I'd be unbelievably appreciative if anyone could create these covers.

Also, a member over on the Nintendo World Report Forums, UncleBob referred me here in regards to Virtual Boy boxes, he mentioned that there were very few box scans available, and any I had would be appreciated. When I get some time either later today or this week, I'll see what I can do, I believe I have about 6 or 7 boxes I can scan.

EDIT (7/7/08) - Relinked to MegaUpload for Raw Scans. I can't seem to get them up to the Cover Project DB without timing out so I just put them up wherever I could. I'll do the same for the VB scans when I have a chance.

Noooo problem. I will definitely have them up by the end of the weekend, I did check to see what I have and here is the list:

Red Alarm
Galactic Pinball
Mario Clash
Wario Land
Virtual League Baseball
Panic Bomber (JP)

Are my other raw scans above alright? If so I will scan these the same way, if not just let me know if there is anything I can do to make the scans better.

they need to be derasterized/descreened

Hmm, I don't remember seeing such an option with my scanner app, but I will check again tonight. Is there any way to achieve derasterization without rescanning?

No, sadly there is not, if there were making covers would be 1000X easier

Damn, well I will get on that tonight and rescan the above covers and get the Virtual Boy ones properly scanned. Thanks for the info!

EDIT: Just did some searching through manuals for the app I use and I found the option hidden in one of the menus. Rescanning will be happening this weekend.

Also, since the other raw scans I did are no good, is there anyway to remove them?

Also, I'm not sure what resolution you did those scans at, but if you're rescanning them anyway, I strongly recommend scanning at 600DPI resolution. Basically you never want to have to scale anything up when making covers (since the quality will be lower than if it was high enough resolution to begin with), and especially when adapting to a different type of case - like from a Japanese GBA box to a DS case - you're bound to do some resizing and fiddling around, so it really helps if you have bigger margins to work with. Plus, higher resolution makes it easier to get rid of dust, scratches and other imperfections.

When you submit new scans, just use the same filenames and they will overwrite the old ones.

I don't know about Mr. Jack's scanner, but my scanner (or the software, I don't know which) won't let me scan higher than 300DPI if I have the descreened option on... :(

So I just scanned one of the GBA boxes again at 600 dpi, descreen and each scan is 35 MB. Is this correct?

Well, I rescanned everything at 600 dpi, descreen and uploaded them to MegaUpload (everytime I try to upload these here they time out). Check out the links in the OP.

Virtual Boy Scans are coming soon.

I was thinking I may see if I can get something done with these covers (no promises though!), but before I start I just thought I'd ask if you had any requests for the look of the covers. Do you want them done in the US GBA style (IE the common template for the NDS case) or something that more closely resembles the original Japanese boxes?

Preferably in the DS box style similar to the Kururin Paradise one already featured on the site.

Thanks a bunch to you or anyone who happens to work on one of these, I sincerely appreciate it.
