I'd sooner trust a remake or new installment for a series like this in the hands of Nintendo over MS, but time will tell what, if  anything, they do with it.

Well, the MS-Rare remakes don't have the best track record.

However, Conker: Live & Reloaded was pretty damn good, and (I think) an upgrade to the original....but for every positive example there is a Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, or Perfect Dark Zero.  I can't see this as a disc release, though.  More likely Xbox Live.  But eh, we'll see.

Looking over it, the announcement doesn't say anything about Rare making it... and I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. Rares more recent work has been less than impressive, but who are they going to give it to? Microsoft doesn't really have a partner that seems like a good fit for Battletoads.

I loved nuts and bolts. Sure, it wasn't a traditional platformer, but boy was it fun building those vehicles. I never understood why it go like zero love :(

As a game yes it was fun.

But as a Banjo Threeie it was shit.

This, because I have too.

Anyway, Battletoads was not very good to begin with, especially compared to Banjo Kazzoie. I can't see how they could mess up a beat em up. Gamestops would be happy to finally end those prank calls.

They release it as Kinect based make-up school with microtransactions...?

No, Rare got absorbed by Microsoft...I don't even think they're a company anymore.  Could be wrong.  But Rare developed the ORIGINAL Battletoads, hence the MS-Rare connection reference

They're still a company, but ya, the were kind of eaten by Microsoft. The only reason they even bought Rare was because they thought that if they did they'd own Donkey Kong. Anyways, it would be kind of cool to see "Battletoads HD".
To be this good it takes AGES!

Shouldn't Battletoads already been trademarked by Rare back in the day and then by absorbing Rare Microsoft would already have the rights to it?

Night have had something to do with Tradewest, the publisher ( I think?)  It's possible that despite Rare developing, if Tradewest published, then the rights might have been split.
