A Shift away from Modern games and Online Multiplayer
Blumpkin:
I don't think that it's fare to say that there aren't any good games recently, they're just different.
I think that you're seeing the large number of games pushing social interaction right now because three/four years ago Sony and Microsoft were telling all the third party developers that the next generation of consoles would be "always online".
Obviously the push back from consumers made them scale back on that front, but the games were already well into production. I think that's why so many games right now are online focused.
I look at a game like Destiny, an always online shooter. Could the game be played offline in single player? Absolutely. But why design a game for a single player experience if you have to be online to play it anyways?
That's why I think we have this tsunami of social featured games right now. But I don't think it'll be this way forever, in the next few years I'll bet more games go back to being focused on the player, not the millions of players.

Why does everything have to end up with social media integration I hate that crap.
