Plug in a ps2 with component cables and play a ps1 game. Of you get a black screen after the ps1 boot logo your out of luck.

Ok. Did that and everything works. PS1 doesn't look all that great but PS2 looks awesome. I'm getting a modded SNES that does RGB and straight component so if I plug n play component it should look as good on the hdtv as it would on a Trinitron?

Manufacturer's site, or Google?

That info really isn't very easy to find.
I'd like to be excited about this product, but most everyone will still need a scaler of some sort, which just defeats the point IMO. I know they plan to offer an "affordable" scaler, but it doesn't exist yet, so I'm not gonna bank on it. Honestly just an "affordable" scaler/converter would be a better product. Getting RGB out of many of these consoles isn't tricky at all, which is better than component anyway.

Probably not. But you honestly won't know until you try. This sort of thing is a total guessing game in terms of what sort of quality to expect.

Thanks for the info. I think the Trinitron is the way to go but for convenience I really wish the plasma would work but like you said we'll see. I just figured that with a component signal that the SNES would look as good as other systems with the same.

It'll look similar to your PS1, your TV is most likely treating the 240p signal as 480i. Most dont even get a picture with 240p over component.
