Any suggestions for party video games?

Pac-Man VS is amazing if you have a GBA and a GBA/GCN link cable.

I have a GBA Micro link cable custom made! I love Pac-Man Vs. that much.
I'm shooting for casual games/games that can be explained quickly, since I doubt anybody coming will be good with the combos and whatnot normal fighters have. So every fighter except SSB[M|B] is out.
Revised list:
Bust a Move*
Dr. Mario Virus Buster**
Family Ping Pong**
Mario Kart 64
Mario Kart Wii
Masteroids (homebrew Wii app. Multiplayer Asteroids!)
Pac-Man Vs.
StepMania
Sonic (Mega Collection or emulated on XB)
Super Monkey Ball 2
Super Smash Bros.*
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
TimeSpliters 2
TimeSpliters Future Perfect
TV Show King**
WarioWare: Mega Party Game$!
Wii Sports
*Depends if I can get it running on Wii.
**I'm doing some "sampling" of Wii Ware, so I don't care if I try to play a shitty game. I like the internal storage and friendly interface of Wii, I have plenty of space for all sorts of games.

You could try Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO. The game has a big roster of characters and customizable controls where you can perform Special Moves with just a button press instead of combining a certain movement + buttons presses.
That won't help you with the combos and against seasoned players, but if you're all beginners it might be even more fun for you than playing the game seriously.
Simple sports games are a good choice for everybody. Top Spin is a great Tennis game. Athens 2004 is fun, too(it's for PS2 though. You said you recently got one or am I mistaken?). It has a good choice of events and you can play the rhythmic gymnastics event using a dance mat :)
Other sports games, more in the fun sport genre, are the entire Outlaw series (Outlaw Golf, Tennis, Volleyball).
Burnout 3 Takedown is easy to pick up and fun to play against, as is Flatout 2 (great mini games included) or Micro Machines which is just as good as the classic Micro Machines games.

Saturn Bomberman is definitely the best version of Bomberman IMO - great graphics, lots of options, fun stages and multiplayer support for up to 10 people! I guess you don't have a Saturn available though, and in that case I would think one of the later Super Bomberman games or Mega Bomberman on the Megadrive would be your best bet.
I don't know about Tetris but I know Super Puyo Puyo 2 Remix on the Super Famicom supports 4 players. I'm pretty sure it has some version of Magical Drop as well (MD3 for the Saturn is the best one, but I think the SFC ones are OK afaik), it's a great series of puzzle games with very simple rules but hectic gameplay. Another pretty obscure SFC recommendation is Battle Cross. It's a motorcross racing game that's kind of a mix between Super Off-Road and Mario Kart. The tracks are filled with hazards, and you get different weapons and items and stuff. Look it up on Youtube! Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try the multiplayer myself yet, but it looks like it'd be a blast.
