I recently bought the Wii U for my son's upcoming bday (he doesn't know yet) and have about 5 games for it so far (at least 3 of which will be Christmas presents): New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U, Super Mario 3D, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, and Mario Kart 8. I usually stick with the 1st party Nintendo games though some great games are occasionally made by 3rd party developers. I saw this feature on upcoming Wii U games recently- http://www.gamesradar.com/upcoming-wii-u-games-new/ and was considering what might be worth picking up in the future. I'm strongly considering Super Smash Bros U (this would be my first Smash Bros game), Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mighty No. 9, Mario Party 10, and Zelda U.

I'm curious, but still on the fence about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Citizens of Earth, Oddworld: New and Tasty and Stranger's Wrath (never played the Oddworld series, but heard good things), Pier Solar and the Great Architects, Splatoon (girlfriend and son both love Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare in spite of my strong distaste for anything bearing the EA logo, this looks like a similar style of game), and Xenoblade Chronicles X (I've never played Xenoblade, but I hear people love it).

How about you guys? What games do you have in your Wii U collection currently and what upcoming titles are you looking forward to?

I only have Zelda HD and the Mario/Luigi combo that came with it. I got the Wii U in anticipation of the new Zelda coming up. I haven't even checked out the e shop yet.

I have NSMBU/NSLU that came with the console and I quite enjoy, DuckTales Remastered, and Hyrule Warriors (aka the whole reason I bought the system), as well as Bayonetta 2 on pre-order.

Also looking forward to Toad Treasure Tracker and Xenoblade Chronicles X (should probably finish Xenoblade first... I've played all the previous iterations though), and REALLY looking forward to Mario Maker.  I never got into the whole Smash Bros craze, it's fun but not a must-have for me.  I'll pick it up eventually when the price drops a bit.
Attempting a complete NTSC-U NES set.  Sell me your games!

Super Mario 3D world has a mini-game from which Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is based. Obviously, CT:TT will expand on the mini game, but if you're on the fence about it, you can play the mini-game and find out if it's your kind of thing (or your son's.)

I'm planning to get myself a Wii-U after the holidays, and on my list is Bayonetta 2, the Wonderful 101, Smash 4 U, Zombi U, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and a few others.
I've already played W101 and it's fun, though there's a hell of a learning curve.
Zombi U is a good rogue-like horror.
Bayonetta comes with both 1&2 (if you're in the US) which is good because I missed out on it.
Smash is always great. I already have Smash 4 3DS, so I know what to expect.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a sequel to Canvas Curse, which is (in my humble opinion) one of the best uses of the stylus on the DS, if not the best.

Now, depending on how old your son is, I wouldn't recommend Bayonetta or Zombi U for him, but of you're gonna get some use out of it, I say go for them. The others are (or should be) quality games any Wii U owner should have.

I was waiting for the holiday sales to replace my PS3, but since I picked one up through Craigslist, I'm now hoping to focus on getting a Wii U during the holidays.  I'm probably going to focus on first party games like NSMB, Luigi Bros., DK Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8 and so on.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."
