No, unless this hypothetical converter contained the chip that the original GC component cables contained.

You're confusing the SNES with the GameCube. The eBay ad says that the consoles have been modified to output component. Something the SNES does not do natively. Also, the only proprietary thing about the cables used on the SNES is the design of the connector itself. Anyone can easily make 3rd party cables for it and the N64. And they do.

The GameCube on the other hand, at least the 001 models, has a digital output for the component cables. The cable itself has a chip in the connector that converts from digital to analog and decrypts the digital signal, as TDIRunner pointed out. Nobody has made a 3rd party cable because it wouldn't make sense financially.

So this seems legit? I actually have an s-video cable that im using for my snes, n64 and gc. If i got crazy and spent the money on it, how much higher quality would the nintendo component cable be and would i be able to use it on the other two?

No.

Gamecube had Component cable (the one with chip).
That was the first official Nintendo Component cable.

The cable does not fit SNES or N64.

That unofficial SNES component cable and works with modified SNES.

The cable does not fit un modified SNES or N64 or cube as they don't output component signal.

RGB out old phat SNES (mini also?), S-video from N64 & cube (some N64 models can be modded for RGB).

Then get RGB-scart cables, one for each console(make sure it's RGB scart, not normal) and RGB scart to Component or HDMI converter.

Yes as long as the converter is good quality (can be pricey).
But at worst still better than S-Video.

Yes as long as the converter is good quality (can be pricey).

I've looked and I see different kinds of scart cables. Is there a specific one what do yall recommend as far a brand of converter and cable?

Nintendo brand ones seem best (JAP SNES & EUR NGC).
