I purchased Silent Hill Downpour at the flea market for $5. Me and my girlfriend played it for one evening and we never played it again. I just couldn't get into it. That doesn't mean it's a bad game. But, for me, it didn't hook me.

I agree with you Segamer, I purchased my copy pretty cheap (And being a Silent Hill fan,) and it was not very fun at all.

Also, Alien Isolation is the one that jus came out right? I was interested in trying it out, but my friend has it and didn't seem that thrilled with it.

Same here, although I did buy the Silent Hill HD Collection and I thoroughly enjoyed that game, especially the remake of the second game which so happens to be the best of the ps2 games imho

Alien Isolation is the one that just came out and it was one of the most unique experiences I've had in years. I was very frustrated at first. I was running around trying to escape the Alien and no matter what I did, he'd catch me and kill me. I was ready to give up on the game. Once I learned how to quietly sneak around and use the Alien to my advantage (to kill the evil humans), it became a blast and so rewarding.

Oh man, Alien Isolation is easily my favorite game of 2014.  Admittedly, I am biased because of my undying love of the film, but I have NEVER been so scared playing a game in my life.  The feeling of tension and terror was so strong in that game.

A lot of reviews claimed you'd sit and wait forever for the alien to leave, and while I found you certainly COULD hide under a table for 5-10 minutes if you wanted to, sooner or later you'd just have to make a break for it.  Every time I'd be whispering to myself, "please don't see me, please don't see me..." and even saving was a harrowing experience at times.  I also agree that using the alien to your advantage is incredibly satisfying.

I loved every second of that game, and there is one sequence (I won't spoil it) that ranks as one of my all-time favorite gaming memories.  Just remember that Isolation is a PURE stealth game.  If you go into it with that expectation (and you like that style of game), you'll most likely enjoy it.

I think I am going to purchase it this week when it's on sale $25 CDN. I am still regretting buying Final Fantasy XIII-3 Lightning returns and Tales of Xillia 2 a few weeks they were released because they had a  quick price drop a few months after they were released.

Sounds to me like you've never played the PS4 exclusive P.T. (Playable Teaser) demo. My tolerance for horror games is exceptionally high having been playing horror games since I was really young. I constantly seek out games that claim to be scary but in most cases end up being disappointed that they never turn out to be as scary as they say. But P.T. literally made me feel truly uncomfortable to be in my own skin (a feeling I haven't felt in years playing a video game) and was mostly due to being dropped in game with absolutely no explanation as to where you are or what is going on. Truly atmospheric and mysterious. And having played this, I almost feel like my tolerance has only increased having played it now (damnit!).

It would be awesome to see a horror game come completely out of nowhere with absolutely nothing to go off. Where the mystery and unknown is what purely drives the game giving you a much more authentic experience.

That being said, I'm playing though Isolation myself right now on PS4 (I've never seen any of the movies unfortunately) and I'm still totally impressed! Great survival horror game for anyone interested in these types of games. Although I cant say at any point have I felt nervous or uneasy during my experience up to this point. But that's just me...

I thought pt was awful.  First time through the corridor felt a little creepy,, then it just got ridiculous.  Outlast scared me way more than that.  To the point I actually switched off.  I don't like first person games at the best of times, and the atmosphere and adrenaline in that game pushed me too far.

I honestly can't find movies or games that scare me. It actually kinda bothers me that they don't scare me. What I don't like is the gross factor. People act like that makes a scary movie when it really doesn't.

Anyway. I really like The Evil Within. Gameplay is pretty good. I just haven't beaten it yet due too this thing called work and life.

This is how I feel... it's either too far on the action side to effectively be scary - Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 and up - or it just beats you over the head with your own helplessness - Amnesia, other 'indie horror' games - which ends up not being fun.

There's a sliding scale where the more capable your character is, the less scary the game is.

Oh well, I like 'creepy action games'. I too will vouch for The Evil Within.

I'm looking forward to playing it. Mikami is a master of his art, and I think this project will give us something less constrained than the resident evil series.
My cover requests:

Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Shovel Knight (3ds/WiiU)
