How is the evil within segamer?  Seeing Lots of mixed reviews.

Going to give drive club a bit more time, and have sleeping dogs to play through before I even think about it.

I am not overly impressed with drive club atm.

I'm not happy with it. I love Shinji Mikami games but Evil Within is so... unpolished. The performance on PS4 is horrendous! The game start off at 20fps (outside). When you get inside (enclosed area), it's an inconstant 30fps (many frame dips). Controls are sluggish! There's a lot of texture pop-in and jaggies. When there's a few enemies on screen, performance takes a nosedive.  If you pretend it's a last generation game, it's fine but if you expect next generation level performance, it's not there.  Gameplay is OK but the technical issues are breaking the game for me.

Does the Playstation 3 version of The Evil Within have the same issues as the Playstation 4 version?

I've heard that it does perform poorly on PS3 Mel. The problem is that it hasn't been properly optimized resulting  in terrible performance. A moderator at the official forum said they're still optimizing it for all 5 platforms. And it should be patch in the future.

I will be waiting for a price drop then before I decide to purchase this game which sounds like it will be sooner than later.

Despite some technical issues, i LOVE this game.  I am a survival horror fanatic, and have played pretty much every US release of the genre.  This is probably the best horror game I have played in a long time, probably since Resident Evil 4.  This game is far from perfect, and it can be damn hard and frustrating - but I love how much it emphasizes SURVIVAL.  You don't have the ammo to run and gun.  YOu have to sneak, stealth kill and run from your enemies.  Otherwise you won't have the ammo left for the boss fight.  Which is followed by a second boss fight. And sometimes a third.
Yes, I expected the next gen aspects of things to be better, but if you really love horror games, then this is a great title.   The only thing that irks me about this game is that you are going to die.  A lot.  And sometimes in unfair fashion.  That, in of itself, wouldn't be an issue, but the load times are about 15-20 seconds...just long enough to frustrate you if you're in a tough situation where many deaths occur.

I just finished Alien Isolation and it's the best survival Horror I played in years. It's very rare when a game gives me nightmares.

Just to throw my 2 cents in the ring on this, if you don't like wii controls, get the PS2 version.  I can't even play the Wii version anymore with all of its frantic wii-mote shaking and motion control.  (and you do it every time you run, which is a lot)

Silent Hill Downpour was released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Silent Hill Downpour was never released on the Playstation 2 or Nintendo Wii system you are thinking of another Silent Hill game which was called Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Yeah, sorry about that, I misread it - that's what happens when I try to multi-task.  My thoughts still stand about Shattered Memories.  Downpour is dirt cheap these days and worth picking up if you like the series.  Less combat driven  than Homecoming (its a bit harder to kill enemies), and a bit more of a back tracking feel similar to the previous games.  Story is "meh", but that's typical for a Silent Hill game outside of the original trilogy.
