:o WOW! That is pretty awesome.

I don't even have to click on the link, I already know what it is.  It somehow made it's way into my facebook news feed.

And yes, I've seen it somewhere as well, but I couldn't remember where.

I don't know about you guys, but isn't the hunt half the fun?  Even if you had the money to buy it, wouldn't you be a little sad that you had basicaly everything you would ever look for?  The hunt would be over. :-\

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Nintendo should actually buy this. Might be a good reminder for them as to what made them the best game developer in the world. Except for maybe Virtual Boy...

Nintendo probably already have everything in a archive somewhere. At the very least for legal reasons.

And I was thinking how just getting it all takes the fun of the hunt away. My 700+ collection took me over 6 years to build up.

I'm about there now as far as what I actually want in my collection but I'm a loooong way from this ebay post. Decided to stick with my personal favorites & what's considered to be consensus "the best", as long as the best isn't the most expensive.

If and only if I was a millionaire would I ever consider buying such a collection. And your absolutey correct. The thrill of the hunt is half the fun. But if your really into playing actual games on actual hardware and using the real cartridges this thing would be a great retirement plan (if you are a millionaire of course)

I never believe that the sellers if these types of auctions really want to sell.  For one reason or another, it seems like they all end up being some sort of publicity stunt. I may be wrong, but I'm still willing to bet that he isn't really trying to sell.

If the price is right, wouldn't you be willing to sell your collection? If someone offered me an amount I simply could not refuse I would seriously consider parting ways with my collection. Then again that is just hypothetical and wishful thinking.

I agree with both of you.  I don't believe for a second that he wants to sell.  However, he might be willing to sell for the right price.

For example, I have no intention of ever selling my game collection.  But if someone walked up and offered me $30,000 for my collection, I wouldn't think twice to sell it.  For that price, I could buy back everything I have and still have enough money to more than double my original collection.  Obviously that will never happen, but I think it's a good example of what's happening here.

Either that or he just wants to show off. :D
