I'm trying to re-discover PS1, PS2 and Xbox. I would like to get all of the best RPG's and exclusives for each system but don't know where to start. For Ps1 I have PaRappa the Rapper, Parasite Eve, Castlevania: SOTN, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy Anthology, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 9, Dragon Warrior 7, Legend of Mana, Chrono Cross & Medal of Honor 1&2. I don't have the other systems in front of me right now to list. Does anyone know of any sites similar to nesguide and snesguide that are dedicated to N64, gamecube, PS1, PS2, Xbox? I'm trying to see, first of all, a complete US release list but also want to know which games are highly ranked and most popular. I like how the games are laid out on nesguide with screenshots, descriptions and can be categorized by genre, publisher, etc.

Are you looking to PLAY these games, or just to have them for a collection?  It may seem like a silly question, but I know lots of people on here buy games just to have them.  Myself included.

I have almost the complete list of PS1 RPGs, but my own "favorites" are not the common titles.  Personally, I like a lot of the Atlus published games - Brigandine, Persona 2, Kartia and Hoshigami.  That said, these games are definitely for people who enjoy RPGs and are willing to give something different a shot.

For a more mainstream style gameplay, Breath of Fire III and IV are classics.  Tactics Ogre, Valkyrie Profile, Legend of Dragoon, Grandia and Suikoden II are pretty straight forward and fun.  These are similar to the Final Fantasy series, at least in terms of simplicity.

For a more "Gothic horror" themed RPG, Koudelka is a fun game - once you get in to it.

My top 5 recommendations for titles you HAVEN'T listed are:
Xenogears
Star Ocean:  The Second Story
Breath of Fire III
Tactics Ogre
Vagrant Story

PS2 RPGs have a bit more diversity in their styles.  Aside from Final Fantasy games, Dragon Quest 8, and Kingdom Hearts, there are a bunch of "heavy eastern style" RPGs.  Such as the Shin Megami Tensei series.  Persona 3 and Persona 4 are regarded as some of the best.  SMT Nocturne is also a very popular RPG.  The .hack// series is fun, but long.  Xenosaga is a great series of games...but you'll have 20 minute long cut scenes more often than you may like.

Some good titles to look in to:
Tales of the Abyss
Radiata Stories
Shadow Hearts
Drakengard
Grandia 2

For the original Xbox, the only RPGs that ever stood out for me were Star Wars:  Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire  (western RPGs like Mass Effect), as Well as Elder Scrolls III:  Morrowind
...honestly, those are the only RPGs I can actually think of on that console.

Hope some of these titles helped you out.

Ill actually play them when i have time. Since  i was first introduced to rpg's with nes final fantasy and dragon warrior its that style that i like. So any game in the vein of those two is what im looking for as far as turn based rpg's go. I also like Fable style games,  I love a good, fun story.

If you are looking for all around and you are into driving games, I would add just about any of the Need for Speed games.  PS1 era was really the prime time for NFS.

I'm too lazy to read through all the lists, so I apologize if any of these have been mentioned:
Vandal Hearts is an awesome RPG
PO'ed is a strange but awesome FPS
MDK is an awesome third person shooter with some stealth and sniper action.
Medal of Honor - it all started here
Tomb Raider 2 - just about as good as TR1

All of the other games I would recomend have already been listed by Megatron although I'm probably forgetting others.  I would help if my colleciton was in front of me.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

If I already have Final Fantasy 5 on the FF Chronicles PS1 game do I really need to buy a fan made translation? Arent repros kinda glitch?

FFV has really long load times on PS1, and the translation was petty bad compared to the GBA Advance version.  I don't know if the fan translated SNES game fixed this, but the PS1 was definitely the worst version of it I have played.
