Im actually going now to pick up a 36" Trinitron from a guy for $40. He says its the Wega series so im hoping this is what i need for old school gaming. No pics to post yet though

You should be happy with that.  I'm looking to upgrade my 27" Trinitron to something about that size.  I've been looking on Craigslist and even found a few people giving them away, but they were a good hour and a half drive, and I'm just not up for that.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Wish you lived anywhere near me.  You could have mine.  Thing weighs 250lbs., and it doesn't work with light gun games (like many late CRTs), so it ended up being useless for me, since I only bought it to play light gun games with.

I'm looking for one to play light gun games too, and now that a brother in law gave me a Super scope (pics Later ;D) i will need it more but the search here in the Dominican Republic for CRT's that size is almost impossible  :(

kv-32fs13 trinitron 36"

Well that's a 32" TV to start (hence the KV-32). It is a Wega according to Sony's site. I'm sure it's a quality tube, assuming it's in good working order. If Sony ever did anything the best, it was CRTs. No idea on compatibility with light guns. Generally speaking the very late model CRTs aren't perfectly compatible with all light guns. Some won't work at all, some are spotty (mine is spotty at best, KV-36XBR250), and some seem to be pretty compatible.  You can check on digipress. There are a lot of discussions about which TVs are compatible and not. Your model may pop up in a search. Worth a look at least :)

Wow...32"?  Ok the screen is huge. If thats the case, which is generally the optimum size for old school consoles, 32" or 36"  because i have both options available. Are the xbr models really that much better?

Based on what I've heard from other people's experiences, the whole XBR line is pretty much NOT light gun compatible.  So steer clear if that's part of what you're after.

Honestly whatever size your space can afford is the "best".  Some people like to play on those little 12" Sony monitors that have ungodly picture quality, but I can't be bothered to sit 6 inches from a TV anymore.  That worked when I was 12, but not as the old fart that I am now.  For me, the bigger, the better :)

Yeah as soon as I can get to it I'm picking it up. I'm also hoping I can find a way to play DS games on this or any TV. Any ideas?

I haven't fully researched this yet, but it's something I'm interested in.  I think you have to use your computer as the monitor, but I don't see why you couldn't get some type of video out from your computer to your TV.

Maybe others know more about this than I do.  Like I said, I'm still looking into it, so I don't know much about it.

Just found this at a local thrift sore in San Diego - a scene that is usually pretty barren.
I think I overpaid a bit at $0.89, but eh, I think the game is worth it.   ;)

It was in Pacific Beach on Garnet St. Not sure the name of it, but it's 2 or 3 doors down from the Goodwill (the one that's like 1 or 2 blocks past Von's, heading towards the beach).  I think it just says "Thrift Store" on the sign, but like I said, I don't remember the name.
