Hi guys,

This might not be the right place to post such a question as there are forums out there specifically devoted to mods such as this, but I wanted to see if anyone in the community here is familiar with CoinOps 5 emulator arcade for original Xbox. I have this on an original Xbox I got in a craigslist trade deal a year ago and it's always worked fine, but recently I started going through the emulator list and removing titles I didn't like such as sports games and older system games which don't interest me (so I wouldn't need to scroll through them while looking for good games). This was ok for awhile and the CoinOps system worked like normal, but after I removed about 800 titles (out of 3800 originally, so when I removed game # 3000 or so) the whole CoinOps emulator system went haywire.

Now, when I try to start CoinOps 5, it says "searching for games" then "confirming against known games" while a blue bar fills up at the bottom of the screen. Once the blue bar fills up for one message it just reverts to the other one and never stops until the Xbox turns off and starts flashing (possibly from overheating? the Xbox sounds fan gets really loud when it does this). The Xbox never used to do this before; when I would start CoinOps it would go straight to the list of games with the preview behind the text. I tried reading up about this problem on some CoinOps forums, but it might as well be written in Chinese... I don't know much about programming or how to go about fixing it. I type this with the hope that someone here might be familiar with this sort of thing.

Also, I could have sworn that it used to be called CoinOps6, but when it started glitching the emulator program name changed to CoinOps5, but I'm not 100% sure about this. I read in one forum that you are supposed to have a set # of games in the emulator list or else it crashes the system. I don't know if this true, but it seems to make sense based on the recent experience. Of course, I did not know this before I started removing lame sports games...

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I can't fully answer your question but I had modded my xbox and put in coin ops 6.  During that time I did read that removing games was dangerous since a lot of games share the same files.  Maybe when you were cleaning out games you accidently deleted some system files?  That might be the reason your Xbox is acting strange...does the Xbox run fine when not in coinops?

Reinstalling coinops is fairly easy but loading the games onto the Xbox can be pretty slow lol.  (Took me almost an entire day to install coinops 6 onto the xbox...60 gigs worth of files)

No problem, and good luck with getting it fixed.  Reinstalling coinops is fairly easy and I can always help with that if you need it.
