NES rom hacking help

I picked up copys of Dragon Quest 1 - 4 on famicom cheap and i want to swap the eproms to make them in English. But i want to swap the title screens from the Dragon Quest roms to the Dragon Warrior 1-4 roms. Can anyone help or point me where or what to do

That involves manipulating the actual ROM and will be quite a big job I believe, but good luck.

I'd start with Google and search "NES ROM hacking" or "NES ROM altering".

As Arseen said, may want to do some research on it. You may want to just program new rom chips altogether with DW 1-4 and instal then on the PCB instead of trying to "alter" the existing chip.

I think one can't even alter the old chips or can you?

No, he cannot "alter" existing data on a chip. He would have to erase the chip, then flash the new data to it.

i have rom backups of DQ and DW and i want to swap the title screens and flash new chips

Omg duh... Sorry for some reason I kept thing the rom already on the chip.

Your wanting your dragon quest rom to boot up saying it's dragon warrior. Gotcha. Sorry about that.

Yea unless you know how to work with roms and how to patch them, I'd say your SOL. I sure don't know how to do that. Lol. Wish I did though.

I think he wants just the opposite = Dragon Warrior ROMS (english game text) but with Japanese title screens (but maybe englisified).

This is gray area as there are no ROMS (?) but only info how to edit them... so I let this be.
Other Admins can over rule this if they see it appropriate.

No, chips on carts are rom, not erasable.

sorry if i went into a grey area i am just looking for help to make custom repro famicom carts. i want to pull the jap eproms from the Dragon Quest games and replace them with new ones of Dragon Warrior but with the Dragon Quest title screens. just because i like the name of Dragon Quest better
