Bad sellers
(1/1)
FritzWhite:
Someone mentioned the other day that they had a bad experience with gohastings on ebay and I had as well. I had another one recently with a different seller when I bought a disc game which was advertised as being in very good condition and having a mirror like shine, only to find it had a fair number of scratches. I've sold a few games and try to accurately represent what I have and it can be annoying when others don't do the same so I figured I'd make a thread to record those experiences to warn others.

I messaged the seller and told them I was dissatisfied with their description of the item, but I won't open a case about it. If they respond in any way I will update my post regarding my experience with them.

Seller: gohastings

Issue: sold game advertised as 'Brand New' that was not sealed. When I mentioned the issue they claimed that the game was 'guaranteed'. IMO a guaranteed used item does not make it brand new.

Seller: smart-shop-games

Issue: sold game advertised as being in 'very good' condition and having a mirror like shine. When it arrived it had scratches.

Actually, there are VERY clear definitions for each of those. If they are incorrectly using them to sell items for more money that is BAD and you should open a case.

The "Brand New" isn't really open for their interpretation.  It should be new and unopened. Period.

"An item that has never been opened or removed from the manufacturer's sealing (if applicable). Item is in original shrink wrap (if applicable). See the seller's listing for full details."

The "very good" condition also has a very clear definition.  Any issues should be disclosed.

"An item that is used but still in very good condition. No damage to the jewel case or item cover, no scuffs, scratches cracks, or holes. The cover art and liner notes are included. The VHS or DVD box is included. The video game instructions and box are included. The teeth of disk holder are undamaged. Minimal wear on the exterior of item. No skipping on CD/DVD. No fuzzy/snowy frames on VHS tape. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections."

Here are all the definitions by category.

It reminds me of ordering a "New" game from GameStop and getting one of their floor models with that annoying clear circle sticker on it and all the stickers for the pricing on the case..  I just return it and tell them it's not good enough..

Another one that bugs me is when they remove the disc from a new game so that the disc isn't out on the shelf.  If you buy the game, they give you a sealed copy from behind the counter, which is fine.  But if you buy the last copy you get the opened game and you still pay "new" price.  They should at least knock 10% off since it's opened.  You can always ask, but.......
