Hey everyone!

Have many of you got one of these consoles at all? And how good are they?

I'm looking at getting some SNES repro's made, but for PAL copies they're pretty expensive, so I'm considering all options and one of those is getting the NTSC repro's made and buying a retron to play them on.

Just wondering how well they play on today's modern TV's, personal experiences etc.

Cheers

Go with genuine phat US SNES, it has RGB-output.

I think the US SNES is ugly too, and the cart shells are pretty ugly in comparison to the PAL/Famicom versions to me anyway haha.

Why must retro gaming cost so much :( repro's will bankrupt me.

Wow they look pretty sleek and sexy.

There's so much to consider haha. I don't even really need the games, I really should be saving for other things but damn. I think it's these covers that makes me want games. Shenske's cover of Earthbound Zero makes me drool.

And the Retron is better?  ???  (On second thought, don't answer that.  I feel like a snarky reply would come from that question :P )

I don't think I ever posted pics of the revised paint (the gray was just meant to make Photoshopping different colors easier.  Changing white to anything else is a nightmare).

(hint: the Retron is way uglier)

Didn't Wiggy fix this, or atleast planned:

I wish.  That project was a TAD overly-ambitious.  Had the prototype made, which looked great, but putting it into production was just WAY too expensive :(

That's a shame Wiggy, it looked really nice. Yeah, the retron isn't the most beautiful looking consoel, but it does a hell of a job from what I've seen, but so does my computer but the feel just isn't the same.

I wish the guy that Arseen let me know about would respond sooner, I'm going to miss the sale at this rate :(

Maybe, but when it came out I remember thinking about how awesome it looked.

That's true for just about any console.  When they first come out I love the looks, but very few consoles have aged well in terms of styling.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I love the PS1 aesthetic, probably cause it was my first console, and it stacks well in a cupboard haha.

I've narrowed my list down to 8 SNES games anyway being:

Chrono Trigger
Dragon Quest III
Final Fantasy III (6)
Earthbound Uncut

Bahamut Lagoon
Treasures of the Rudras
Treasure Hunter G
Live a Live

Any other suggestions you guys could make? And if you have these, how well do they play on the Retron?

Turbo Fuckin Duo.

Except for the big ass full DIN plug on the side for video that makes it look like you're hooking up a C-64 disk drive.

Out of those FF3 and CT won't be made as those are available as real carts.
There is ofcourse Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes and atleast 2 FF3 hacks (one correcting grammar and such and other more complete (I think called chrytal shards or complete hack)).

I can get them done simply cause they were never released as a pal release of a guy in the UK and a guy in Australia. Which is cool. But I wish it had a pal release and I played the ds version or chrono and loved it.

I've seen those two but never looked into them. I'll definitely check them out :)
