So as I mentioned last week, Game Stop will stop carrying PSP games starting September 1st. I’ve noticed that most of their PSP prices are actually pretty cheap which makes sense since they will basically only be carrying these games until they are gone. So despite the fact that I hadn’t been in a Game Stop in many years, I’ve been stopping by just about any one I can find to see what they have.
Earlier this week I found a copy of Metal Gear Ac!d for $4. Not bad. I bought it and when I got home, I discovered that they gave me Metal Gear Ac!d 2, which I already have. The next day I called and told them what happened. They said that it must have been labeled wrong because they didn’t have a copy of the first game. They said they would check a few other stores and told me to call them back in 20 minutes. While I was waiting, I was near another store, so I stopped in to see if maybe they had the game. I told them what happened and the guy working there told me that stores cannot transfer games and if the other store didn’t have it, then I was out of luck. I asked him if I could just return the game to his store since I was already there and I had the game with my receipt. He said no, because it would screw up their inventory. Then he asked me why I didn’t just download it digitally. I told him I don’t buy digital games and he looked at me like I was an idiot. He said that I was going to have a hard time getting games in the future…..

, whatever that means.
So anyway, I left the store unhappy. I was planning on writing a short story here saying how I would never go to Game Stop again. But before I had a chance to do that, I went ahead and called the first store back. They guy said he found the game and was having it sent over to his store. He will swap me out on Wednesday. He went on and on about how sorry he was and how embarrassed he was that they mixed up the games.
So the point of this long story is that while many of us will probably agree that Game Stop isn’t our favorite gaming store, it’s worth mentioning that there are some good workers out there and if you give them a chance, they will treat you right. While I will probably never go back to the second store, I will continue to shop at the first store just because of the way the worker went out of his way to make me a happy customer.
Sorry, that was longer than I planned.
