Has anyone had an experience with or can recommend some 3-d modeling software?

Thanks!

I hear Blender is good, Wiggy should be able to help you out better with this though.

Well, I know if you're using a mac, there is some apps called 123Design. I've got them but can't tell you how good they are because I've not really used them.

Blender is super capable, but the learning curve on it is a CLIFF.

Don't expect anything resembling intuitive. At least, that was my experience with it.

Hehe, had not thought of sex toys...might be on to something there...

Actually, I want to design various items like medallions, statues, ornamental sword guards, etc that can be 3d printed.

Exactly. Lol. I have a friend that obsessed with Yoshi. So as a joke I wanted to make a Yoshi themed sex toy. Never got around to it though.

Well that rules out software like Maya and such (technically possible, but not the best for this sort of thing).  Rhino is dirt cheap, relatively powerful, and easy to learn.  I use Solidworks, but it's expensive and not quite as simple as Rhino.

whatever you choose, you'll want something more CAD-based.  Programs like Maya are designed to build more organic shapes and don't rely on the user inputting as much technical data.
