Gutling:
I just bought one in perfect shape (no scratches/chinks) that had all the capacitors just replaced for $20 and thought that was pretty decent deal.  There are good deals out there on them, just got to weed out the people wanting 50 bucks for one with no sound or something lol

What you guys think of those videos, which one you think will be best, ds mod or led mod?
Polygon:
Well, I just got done watching the videos and if I were going to do this it would be the first. The other three are kind of doing it half assed. You can see the that the backlighting is uneven, focused on the center, just like with the old CFL backlighting that came in it. It's just brighter. In the last one he complained that the LEDs weren't bright enough. Well, in the DS backlight that is using OLEDs which are much brighter. The lighting is even. And it's the right way to do it.

However, there is one issue. While installing a DS backlight panel will increase the battery life and give you better, more even, backlighting. It doesn't solve the larger issue. Which is the fact that you're still using an outdated LCD screen with horrible response time. So you end up with a well lit blurry mess. It's really like putting a band aid on a severed arm. That being said, if I were to do this, I would certainly do what he did in the first video.

You could switch the LCD with a modern one but you are going to have some sacrifices. Since the GG screen is a custom resolution the image won't take up the full screen on a modern LCD. Its great to do that if you plan on playing master system games on your game gear but its pretty bad on normal game gear games.

The screen on the game gear would look like what shows up on this tv
