It really depends on what you're doing.

This:

Without computer choking.

So multitasking nightmare.

Any reason you're going with 32GB of memory?

Wanted 4 memory units (4*4 is better than 2*8 right?) then was thinking wether to go with 4*4 or 4*8 and decided on the latter.

Oh, yeah. Load balancing will take care of that nicely. That's the big reason I was using dual processors back in the P3 days.

It doesn't really matter for performance. It would only matter if you wanted to upgrade later. But with 32GB I don't image you'll need to for a while.

So one or two CPU?
How many cores?
I read something about threds or strings. Huh? how many?

OK.

Just think of a thread as instructions sent to the processor by a running program. Run however many cores you want. Each core is similar to running another processor. So, having four cores on one processor is SIMILAR to having four processors. There are benefits to having more than one physical processor though. So, it's just a matter of what you can afford. Having two physical processors will simply allow you to multi task even more. You just need to have other components like the memory and HDD to keep up, and from your listed specs, you would.

Maben:

I'd go with a single CPU for simplicity's sake.  This beast you are talking about building is already going to be insanely powerful and expensive.
