I'm finally starting to  assemble the parts for my computer.
Might take 2 more months to get the mulah.

Some specs I've been thinking are:
- CPU: 64-bit Quadrcore *2 (= 8 cores)
- C-drive: 500GB SSD
- D-drive: 1TB SSD
- E-drive: 4TB HDD
- Memory 8GB DDR3 *4 ( = 32GB total)
- Good mermory card reader
- Optic drive: BR/DVD/CD +/- R/RW
- USB2 *10
- USB3 *5-10
- Video output: HDMI 2.0 *2-4
- OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. (not trusting W8 or W8.1 yet)

Monitor 1: 65" UHD TV (aka 4K or 2160P) , once I find LG one that has HDMI 2.0
Monitor 2: 47" Full HD TV (aka 1080P) if I get mine fixed. If not fixable then some temporary until I get another one like the main monitor.
Monitor 3 (and 4?): Undiceded.

Thoughts?
Suggestions?

Your going to use a dual cpu motherboard, like a server board? Why not use a single 8 core cpu? (Just curious)

How many graphic cards are you aiming at 8) Don't laugh, but I bought the Geforce Titan when it came out last spring just for the heck of it. I figured that money wasn't a problem and I liked their idea with that card, it's kind of a novelty card. I think W8.1 is ok now, have it on the computer and my Nokia 925! SSD + 32gb ram was the biggest gain from my last computer.

Good luck with the rig!

I know next to nuthing really of computer assembling, but thought 2*4 might be better than 1*8?

Don't know, but 2 I guess = 1 for both main screens.
And using the output of the mother board for 3rd screen (and for the 4th if motherboard has 2 video outputs).

I have not looked at any new specs/designs out, but when I built mine two processor mainboards are mainly for servers. They have to run server processors (Xeons or similar) and are more setup for different processes than video/memory that is required from a gaming rig.

Things might have changed since then, but a quick google search and I could not find a good reason to run the added expense over a single 8 core. I run a AMD vishera 8350 (4ghz) which I bought when they first came out, was labeled "worlds first 8 core desktop processor" and its a monster even though its a year old now, I have never slowed it down with anything. Looking on new egg there are tons of 8 cores now, even faster for less than what mine was.

Just might be less of a headache/hassle.

And I wanted a titan, they had just came out when I built mine but it was the price of everything else I had together lol. They are good chunk cheaper now but still kinda pricey.

PS about the video card, many support multiple monitors on one card. Mine has 4 outputs, I run dual monitors hdmi from it.

OK, unless someone disagrees with him I go with 1*8 then.
I'm not setting gaming PC.

It's worseI want PC with what I can run if I want multiple instances of Photoshop (for editing multiple covers at once) full screen, while using MS Paint (has some advances over Photoshop) while using internet, while listening to music and/or while watching 2160P video using 2-4 screens at once of which least one is 2160K, anothers are 1080P. Without computer choking.

So multitasking nightmare.

ABOUT DAMN TIME !!!  ;D

I know. :D

I've been planning on this for some time now, but always ran out of money BUYING BOXES TO SCAN.
But then my TV broke  so I decided that I'll get freaking good one, and while at it I really need to get good computer too.
I have enough scans to make many covers and about 40 SFC covers yet to scan so I'm set on that front for time being.

Also the upload que needs tending I think and it's time to assume the duties of Cover Admin and clear it.

It really depends on what you're doing. Any reason you're going with 32GB of memory?

Wanted 4 memory units (4*4 is better than 2*8 right?) then was thinking wether to go with 4*4 or 4*8 and decided on the latter.

Oh, yeah. Load balancing will take care of that nicely. That's the big reason I was using dual processors back in the P3 days.

It doesn't really matter for performance. It would only matter if you wanted to upgrade later. But with 32GB I don't image you'll need to for a while.

So one or two CPU?
How many cores?
I read something about threds or strings. Huh? how many?

Just think of a thread as instructions sent to the processor by a running program. Run however many cores you want. Each core is similar to running another processor. So, having four cores on one processor is SIMILAR to having four processors. There are benefits to having more than one physical processor though. So, it's just a matter of what you can afford. Having two physical processors will simply allow you to multi task even more. You just need to have other components like the memory and HDD to keep up, and from your listed specs, you would.

I'd go with a single CPU for simplicity's sake.  This beast you are talking about building is already going to be insanely powerful and expensive.
