Is anyone planning buying this game this month?

I will definitely be getting it...but I heard it wasn't coming out in America until early 2015.  If it did drop this month I would be ecstatic, as I will be picking it up day one.  And most likely buying it again when it comes out in the inevitable disc release form.

I'll likely get it but I will probably stay factory sealed.

It comes out this month in Japan on disc but, there is Asia  release which is in English which is being released this month.

Hmm.  Well I think I will probably wait for the North American release.  At this point, all I can find for the US is a digital download.  I hope they release it on a disc, like in Japan.  But like Segamer said, I, too, would probably keep it sealed and simply play the dlc version.

So would this be the definitive version of the game? Never played the first one.

Also, the Japanese and Asian physical discs of Okami HD have the English subtitles.

We have an official release date in the States of Jan 20th with a price tag of $20 across all platforms.  The articles I read could not confirm whether there is a disc release at this time or if it is strictly DLC.

So the Japanese version would be the way to go? I was thinking of the Collector's Package version, assuming it has both English voiceovers and subtitles?

This "version" of Resident Evil is the superior game (compared to the PS1, and just a graphics/gameplay u[date of the gamecube version).  While the Japanese and Western versions of the PS1 game differed slightly due to censorship, the gamecube (and subsequently this HD version) is pretty much the same.  There will be a disc based version coming to the west, I just don't know when.
So if you want a physical copy and don't want to wait a few months, then go with Japanese.  Just make sure the ITEM DESCRIPTIONS and DOCUMENTS are also in English...otherwise you may find yourself stuck since a lot if the in game directions on where to go/what to do are text, not spoken word.

Where and when was it confirm that there will be physical release (disc based) released in North American?

Back in October, I remember reading about it in a few different articles that talked about the releases of the HD remake and Revelations 2, which originally is going to be released episodically.  It also mentioned plans for both to be released on discs later on (similar to walking dead, wolf among us, etc). But now I can't find those articles.  I'll keep looking.

The Japanese or Asia version I think would be the same  but, the Japanese version would have biohazard on the main menu instead of resident evil. Yes, the collector's edition include both English VoiceOvers and English subtitles. The collector's edition is same as regular Japanese release but, include the art guidebook  and the map.
