It has happened, I'm out of shelf space.

Right now I have 3 identical wobbly shelfs full of games and full of figures on the top.
My shelfs are fairly short and the only way to go is up. I was thinking of building some myself, and though I do have the skills, I do not have the resources or the time as I am going to collage in a month. So I began digging around, I want something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-38435715-Oskar-1080-Media/dp/tech-data/B0058O8GWW
I hear this used to be good, but they changed it and made it crap.

I was thinking of just getting one or two, mostly to compress my collection and have all my figures in one place.

I have overall:
90 loose NES carts
150 loose Famicom carts
100 UGCs
220 DVDS
130 DS Cases
30 CD Cases
50+ figures

And space for shelves slightly over 30" wide. I can't drill supporters into the walls, they are made of plaster.

Anyone know any good, sturdy solutions?

can you put two of those 3 shelves one in top of the other and secure them?

you'll have more space for another one

If you can only go up perhaps floating shelves? I know you said the walls are made of plaster but surely there are some locations you can have higher floating shelving?

You can buy this.. But I would put it together with wood glue.

A nice tip is to also drill holes just below where the shelves sit and get some of those cabinet shelf pegs to support it.  The more stuff you put on it, the more it will sag.

Ohh, and if you can.. see if you can locate a store like this!  They actually have AMAZING prices and usually do 20% off for me..

I bought 6 foot high CD/DVD shelves from them..  Cost me 100 or so each, but they are REAL WOOD. You can even get them painted typically..  Search for "Unfinished Furniture" in your area...

Those 6 foot tall cd/dvd shelves look really sharp with the NES games on them.  I picked up several cd/dvd media shelves from Walmart and put them to use for my collection.  I had to custom make the settings for the UGCs so that they would fit evenly on the shelves, holds about 102 of them is spaced correctly.  Here is the ones I picked up:

Before criticizing someone, walk a mile in their shoes. Then when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away and have their shoes.

I have 2 of these Billy Bookcases from Ikea they're like 7 feet tall http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40279788/#/00263850 (if you change the color to white it is $20 cheaper right now) They work great and you can buy extra shelves for $10 each. I bought 2 extra so it holds more than 400 DVDs.

@aarom-hagel - Can you post a picture or two of yours? I think I have one close tho this.

@e_Brugal - Probably not, the shelfs are very unsturdy and made of particle board. That would probably topple over.

@TAFK The plaster prevents me from nailing anything into it, maybe some sort of sticky thing would work, but I would like new shelfs to replase the older ones.

@CMDLineKing Something like that would be useful I go the building rout, thanks!
I think I have some sort of store like that around.
And with the other shelfs, I want something flatter so I can store figures.

@Nacho3 - Ive seen these when looking. Are they made with real wood?

I second these bookcases.  They are very versatile as they can handle DVDs but larger items as well.  All the shelves except for the middle one are adjustable.  I've got 6 of them :)

larryinc64, this is how I have them kind of set up.  I don't have enough room to put all the shelves next to each other so I have them all over my place.  This is a few of the shelves filled with most of my vertical cover SNES UGCs and a small portion of my NES collection.

Billy book cases are particle board and a real space waster.  More than twice as deep as you need.  Would not recommend for media.

This was the shelving idea I have in mind.

The shelf I posted in the top post was like this, bur aperently it's crap.
I think I have a Billy Shelf, I got it at a tag sale.

@mojoeskateco
What it the thinner shelf you have in that set up? It looks like the one I have.

Maybe a bunch of these side by side would be good. The extra depth would be nice for the figures, but  are any thinner alternatives would still work.
