Instead of having the white border all around the box, why not have it just on the bottom, like the NGC on PS2? I was never a big fan of that border. I do like the red and black.
there is also 3 alternatives. 2 with a blue gradient and stars, like the NES system box and accessories, with black or transparent N logo. Also a red and black one, to match the red front banner some games have.
I see where you are going but I'm going to stick with the black with white border. 1. I've already made over 60 covers.
2. The white border is present on virtually all of the TCP spines and it wouldn't be a huge departure from what everyone is used to.
3. I think the starry design would look a bit weird all lined up and would clash with some of the cover artwork. It would look nice for the 80's black covers but odd on the rest.
4. The red and black are a big departure from the NES's 80s/90s advertisements. Its a bit overbearing with such a sharp color, plus the n64 covers use red by default.
5. I think it would be best to not use an extreme amount of color so it fits well with every cover and isn't the focal point of the cover.
I appreciate the input on everything but i'm going to keep it going this way.
About the NES cases: I'm going dark grey cases all the way! I've always wanted black UGCs so this is a no brainer for me. Plus i will keep the theme going with the DS cases being the dark gray color. I'm so ecstatic about getting all of my cases
