Negative on dust covers, Shadowfox made that decision intentionally many pages ago.  And the mod would be pretty major to make it fit -- dust covers add a not insignificant width to carts, not just at the bottom where the carts narrow either.  These cases are very tight against the cart on all edges, so to modify it for dust covers you would have to remove... basically all of the left edge.

And looking at it closer, you'd also have to remove the clip on the left side (because the whole cart would be shifted left) which would mean it would be rattling around in there and thus not really any better than a UGC.

just got my sample

WAY WAY WAY better then version 1.  its night and day.  But at the same time it is thicker then version 1.

Version 1 was close enough where we did not need to covers unless you where super picky.  This version we for sure need resized covers.  Might thing for how nice these are.
very very happy with the quality.

Gotta run.  Blackhawks game is starting :)

just wanted to get this out their.  KalessinDB already covered the major stuff

height is close to UGC.  for the people that want it exact it will annoy you.

me personally..im going to use UGC for sega/snes/n64 and this for NES.

but if those clamshells come out..its going to be hard to resist to go to those...

I'm very interested to see those final dimensions so I can start converting my Nintendo Fusion covers and create a new template.  ;D

Sounds amazing :) I love those covers.

Slightly. If you have already printed covers for the UGC they will fit just not perfectly. The case is wider to accommodate the manuals.

I'm taking this opportunity to make everything uniform and perfect  ;D

I will most certainly share. I'll make sure to have all the covers ready to go before the cases arrive at everyone's door. It is super tedious but the results will be worth it. I can't even tell you how much it drives me nuts to have all my games lined up and there is something slightly different with each. Be it different developer logo sizes on the spine or a series of covers that don't line up. I'm actually improving the quality on quite a few of these as I go too.

That being said, for the reason of consistency i don't want anyone to help. I have 43 completed at this moment and plan to work on this with every spare second i have the next few weeks. I already had one test printed for the case and it fits like a glove. If you really wanted to you could organize your games by developer and all the bottom spine logos would line up.  :D

I talked with ShadowFox and we decided to go with the black around the Nintendo logo on the spine.
1: All of Nintendo's advertisements for the NES had it this way or a transparent color (white came around with SNES/N64).
2: It will help differentiate them to UGC covers. We don't want anyone printing out the wrong sized cover do we.
3: It looks GREAT ;D

You guys can trust me i'll make them as close to perfect as possible right?  :P

(i was still messing with Imandix to get a correctly sized preview so things may be a bit off)

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Instead of having the white border all around the box, why not have it just on the bottom, like the NGC on PS2? I was never a big fan of that border. I do like the red and black.
there is also 3 alternatives. 2 with a blue gradient and stars, like the NES system box and accessories, with black or transparent N logo. Also a red and black one, to match the red front banner some games have.

I kinda like that starry background for the Nintendo logo box (like the retro packaging for controllers and the NES system box) - very cool.

Also - I'm having a hard time deciding what to order: the clear or the black. I have on many occasions made inlays for my current NES games in UGCs, but I don't know if I'll continue to do that. Anybody in this thread have thoughts on this to help me decide?

I've so far preferred black... but clear ones are getting more and more tempting... :-\
If the cases would be available in red (the Nintendo color in my mind) I might go with those... or not... :-\ ::) :-\ ::)

My personal opinion is that the officially official boxes (Genesis, DS, 3DS, various disc based systems) are almost entirely opaque, usually black/dark gray, therefore when I get nicely fitting semi official boxes (Game Boy, NES, anything else he makes) from Shadowfox, I'll usually get dark gray or other opaque colors unless it's like a replacement Saturn longbox or something.

For me, clear cases for cartridge systems is reserved for "close enough" cases like the ugc, when I get a proper case it goes gray
