Hey all! I have decided to created a new thread for the progress of the new NES cases I have been working on.

  • These cases will come in Clear and Dark Grey (Like DS/ Gameboy cases)
  • They will house NES game carts + booklet(s)
  • The cases will be 27MM thick
  • NES Game carts will "snap" into the case via game clips
  • They will be the same width and height as the UGC however, they will have rounded edges like the Gameboy cases.
  • The Artwork sleeve will be "grainy" to match the UGC case's sleeves and not like the Gameboy cases sleeves

I should be receiving some 3D renderings soon. (Like any night now) once I get em, I'll post them here.

Below are a few photos I received last night; we are working on the internal structure of the cases so they will not be flimsy as well as the rounded edges for the cases. See photos below:

I think this is a good starting point, the thumb hold to open the case I am going to have it match the thumb hold on the Gameboy cases.

Comments and questions are always welcome!  ;)

Drool ....  ;D

(saving room for real comment)

I cannot wait for these ... you can already put me down for 75 Dark Grey ones whenever they are done :)

I like the thought of it looking similar to the Gameboy cases.

These look amazing.

Can I put in a vote against the "grainy" UGC sleeve though? I was literally just looking at my UGCs and bemoaning the fact that the sleeve hides the print quality so much. My covers look less impressive when behind it, and they reflect so much light.

Was totally thinking "DVD and DS cases don't do that, I hope Shadowfox's new cases have a better sleeve..."

I'm torn with the grainy look ... I like it because it hides the fact that not all covers have the greatest quality artwork, and lets me (and I'm sure others) escape with using lesser quality printers and paper

But, I dislike the fact that it does slightly distort the covers that get higher quality artwork, and I get to use the nice printer with nice paper :-)

I am a super huge fan of the clear plastic like on the GB/GBC/GBA cases, however, I will buy anything you make at this point.

Oh god my bank account will hate me, but I'm so excited.  I know I'm going to be in for 200 dark grey as soon as you have these out.

I love it and will surely use them for all NES games!!! I do however agree with the Grainy sleeve..I currently use normal printer paper for my UGC covers, the grainy sleeve does hit the print quality well, but I think if it's going to be this new and exciting case, then my vote goes to using a clear sleeve. I wouldn't mind buying better quality paper. :)
oh but who am I kidding...I'll buy them either way!!  ;D ;D ;D

I also vote for non grainy.

The newer UGCs are significantly less grainy as well

While we're talking about sleeves, if there's anything you can do to make the sleeves slightly larger, since the ones I get always seem to be slightly smaller than thecoverproject dimensions and covers end up warped a bit inside them or misaligned...

More importantly though, make sure they don't unfasten at the corners so easily, if you can. Putting a new cover in feels like defusing a bomb half the time.

I should just start a "UGC Complaints" thread where we can cover every bad detail about UGCs before Shadowfox makes the new better solution.
