True.  I was referring more to the people who say for a 240p source (say... SNES), that they think RGB thru an SCART connection or a Sony PVM or whatever is a better picture than YPbPr over component on an equivalent quality TV.  I for one cannot see a difference, but more power to the ones that can I suppose.

Well there is a difference between 240p/480i Component (YUV) and RGB...sometimes the color can be off, but in my RGB to YUV transcoder, I fixed that where the colors are correct...so it's pretty good. Also an RGB signal is the pure Standard Def signal with no transcoding what so ever, but YUV is good enough, and if you have a CRT with Component Inputs, you can use it.

Mine was selling my Megadrive and 32x.

Traded it in at CEX (the main used game store in the UK) in about 2001. Hardly used it then so didn't really care what I got for it. There was about 50 or so complete Megadrive games with it but I'm not really that bothered about losing those. What I do regret selling was the 32x. I was a massive Sega fanboy then and really wanted to 32x to do well and therefore bought all the games I could. I had Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, Knuckles Chaotix, Darxide, Cosmic Carnage, Kolibri, Fred Couples, Doom, Mortal Kombat 2, MotoCross, After Burner, Space Harrier, Stellar Assault.... The're the ones I can remember, probably had more (I remember I got Virtua fighter for Xmas the year it came out. Got up at 4am that xmas day and spent literally 6 hours solid playing it)!!!

Anyway, I traded the whole lot in (games, consoles etc) for about £50. They didnt even want the 32x console as they said they didnt sell them so gave me £3 for it!

Ironically, one console I haven't got now is a 32x as I just cant find one for what I call a reasonable price here in the UK. Unboxed ones with cables go for about £50 upwards on the bay. More with spacers and RF shields. :(

blunders or regrets, hmmm?

only one i have is not getting a Virtual Boy when they came out, at the time there was an import store near to where i lived, we got loads of stuff from there, SFC, Megadrive, PC Engine, etc. could have got a VB, but for whatever reason never did, cant get one now...

You can't get one, or you can't get one for less than $100?  For me it isn't that difficult to find one, but I've never seen one for less than $100.  That is a little high considering the quality and quantity of games available....

price. its seems odd to say that now, considering the original retail price...

anyway, they show up on ebay and some retro stores, but never for less than £100-150

Taking a break for about five years. When I stopped collecting prices were dirt cheap. And when I started back up, well.... you know. :-\

About 12 years ago i was renting a home out from a family member when i was barely 20 and i stored all my old nes, snes and sega games and systems i grew up with in the closet by the front door area. Had tons of stuff specifically rpg's and was all mint but missing most boxes. When i moved out i forgot to clean out a few closets including that one and when i came back 2 days later a cleaning company already came and my entire collection was gone. One of the dumbest things ive done in my entire life...

Sold my brand new N64DD dev kit that I only paid 200 bucks for (and didn't make a ton of money on).  The worst part?  I coulda bought 10 of them at that price. Who knew anyone would care about that thing so many years later ??? Oh the early days of eBay...

I sold off a bunch of my NES, Gameboy, N64, and PS1 games when my x-wife and I needed money. I made decent money from it all, sad thing is there was a lot of rare gems in there that I wish I had back.

I once traded Grandia for PS1 complete for an incomplete Dynasty Warriors 2......

Years before that I traded a Saturn, Albert Odyssey, Bug, Clockwork Knight and a few other Saturn games for Dragon Warrior 7, and Earthbound.

At the time,......not the greatest trade....now....not too bad.

2 for me.

One was throwing away boxes. Lots of boxes, mostly for SNES, N64 and Game Boy. Probably 50 or so. I felt really good about all the space I was saving in my room... then about a week later I started missing them. Recycling had gone out either that day or the day before :(

The other... I was offered an Atari 2600 (the black one), with 5 controllers and ~100 games, with 10 or so boxed. Guy wanted $50 for it, and I told him I wasn't interested. Again, about a week later, I change my mind... and it's gone, sold to someone else.

I've got a few.

I was one of those "out with the old, in with the new" kids, always trading my current consoles for the next one in line. I was never one to throw away my boxes either so I always think of all the badass shit I'd still have today if I traded up.

Another one would be when I sold my copy of Chubby Cherub to my cousin for $5 a few years back, and then all of a sudden it became rare. Fortunately for me, my cousin decided to part with his collection, so I bought it back for the same $5 I sold it for! ;)

But my worst one was probably around when I first started getting into collecting just under 10 years ago, and passed on a copy of Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak for only $15 at a local pawn shop. I remember picking it up and thinking to myself "$15 for a Flintstones game? Yeah right...." ::)

In 2004 I got my first job working at McDonalds. When i started earning my own income my collection truly started. There was a locally owned gameshop a few blocks away that I would visit frequently after work. I was buying up NES, SNES and N64 games that I've always wanted. I dropped hundreds collecting that year (a lot for a 15-16 year old making $5.15 per hour before taxes).

The Nintendo DS just came out and i was infatuated with it. I could only afford one game when it launched and i was craving more. The gameshop had every title that was available for the system, which wasn't many at launch. I had $60 to spend on games one day I was shopping. I passed up a BRAND NEW Earthbound CIB they had on the back shelf for Asphault Urban GT and Feel the Magic: XY/XX.

let the shaming begin  :'(

I would say that my biggest blunder is throwing out all my cases for my ps1, ps2, xbox and dreamcast games to save space for storing them.  I have a lot of them and they took up a lot of space so I put them into large cd storage folders and I have been regretting it for the longest time.
