Meant to post this for you a long time back..   You should look into these for your extra controllers.  You wrap them through and they stay on the cable, then you can wrap up the cable and Velcro it in place.  You get 100 of them in package and they are crazy handle for things like that!

That does look like a better way to do it, hopefully put less strain on the point where the cable enters the controller?

Yeah, how you have them wrapped around the controller is terrible for a lot of reasons (Cord tension being the main one).  Think about how most people unravel controllers.. They just grab the end and drop it! Yipers!  You'd be surprised at how easy it makes them to move around too. I usually tuck them under the controller, you could Velcro the whole bundle to the controller itself, if you wanted..

I missed this before, but I use these as well.  The extra loop that keeps it on the cord when you aren't using it is awesome.  I buy mine at Wal-Mart.  They come in two rolls, one in grey and one in black.  Because of this, I can even match up the color of the strap to the color of the controller cable.  Since basically all of my controller cables are one of those two colors. 

These are so great that I use them for all cables, not just video game controllers.
