A lot of us are sounding a little whiney and spoiled over the Club Nintendo thing, but a lot of that has do with the decline in the quality of the rewards as larry mentioned. Which, has also been a pretty fast and steady decline. It's a little hard not to get a little upset when year after year, rewards were generally great rewards, only to suddenly have them basically strip not only the regular rewards, but the Elite and Gold rewards as well to practically nothing in comparison to what we were given in the past. But to defend myself a bit, my loss in faith with Nintendo has been slowly declining long before all this (The NES Remix announcement after I JUST used my Elite prize really doesn't help). Let's face it, we all know Nintendo just hasn't been what they use to be the past few years. Everything seems like slow progress.

For me, a lot of it comes from how Nintendo has handled Super Smash Bros over the past few years (for various reasons). They are trying to get there by finally accepting the (HUGE) competitive scene with the tournaments and such they've been hosting. But it always seems like Nintendo is too busy living in their own special world to truly pay attention to the way things are evolving, or to listen to what it is people really want. Something that would truly benefit them at this time.

Don't get me wrong though. I still love Nintendo, and I'll always continue to support their titles I'm firmly committed to. But I'm not going to pretend that Nintendo hasn't been continuously dropping the ball on us lately.

See, almost always I would prefer a game over any swag.  ALMOST.  But some people CHOSE to get  $15dollar game, others chose the cheaper options.  I chose a $30 game, so I fel rewarded.  I don't think the quality has gone down. as I have yet to see anything physical I actually want.  It's all about what people will actually take, and my guess is that the past few years 85% of people have chosen the free game.  So why bother producing stuff for the 15% who want it?  Just an economics viewpoint.

Its easy for people to pick a free game these past few years, the physical rewards are getting worse and worse. I know they don't have to do Club Nintendo, but if you are going to do it then do it well. It's hard to judge how "well" you can give away free stuff, but when they used to do it better its kind of a disappointment because they already set the bar high.

i gave away a game to a random person

gave my wife the game code for Donkey Kong Country. I am EXTREMELY let down with there being  physical items. I am extremely upset I missed the Majora's Mask Soundtrack last year.

Sorry to revive an old topic but it is still 2014...

Anyway, wtf is up with club Nintendo? Are they so damn money hungry they don't want to give out physical stuff anymore?

I've been checking it like every week for the last 4 or 5 months and alls they have is digital crap. Poster sets are ok but not something I want to bad.

I know this is pretty much free stuff. But I think it's retarded to be like "Oh, you bought some stuff from us? Here is a nice smelly pile of shit to go with it! Thanks for your money!"
