Talked to some old friends around town and found someone that had 4 of the GBA games (sans Ruby) and a GBA. Got all of it for $30. These copies are legit.

I have no clue why I didn't think to ask him sooner. He's a bit younger and still in to it, but not the older stuff, and doesn't really pay attention to value.

Sorry to burst your bubble but those 4 copies of Pokemon in this pictures are not legit. All four of those labels are normally foiled  :'(

you should be able to tell when you turn it on..

if it says "loading... the game can now be played" or whatever then its fake.

if not it's probably real.

the only other test would be to try to trade pokemon between them.

any fakes won't allow you to trade.

Actually those 4 are real. Labels are foil, indented numbers, none of the "Loading .... the game can now be played" crap, Pokemon can be traded. The original ones I posted were fake, these 4 are 100% legit and from a single owner.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but you took a picture of those four pokemon carts at just a perfect enough angle that none of them appear foiled? The labels look suspicious to me. I personally have these games and I can assure you the ones pictured above do not have genuine labels. :/  Sorry dude

No jerk-ness taken here, I would have to assume the angle makes them look suspicious because these are legit. I made sure to do the "Loading...." check, labels are foil, have the indented numbers, took the cart apart and checked the boards, the whole 9. It was also a personal friend who has been the only owner of them all.

After almost getting screwed once, I did my homework on these since I could personally see them and check them against fake ones :)
