In particular, the one thing I really don't like about UGCs is the thin hard edges of plastic you have to grab or push open to get the cases open. And sometimes the corners are the first to chip off. It just feels cheap to me.

What if you could make the edges of the case, and especially the area where you open it, more rounded and perhaps more like the DS cases/your GB cases. In fact, somewhat more like the outside of an 8-disc DVD or Blu Ray case. Something a lot more pleasant to open.

Just a thought.

Well what do you know, it looks like there might be a precedent for this already:

If you could take the best of the double-wide/8-disc DVD case and the UGC and combine them for your NES, SNES and N64 cases, you'll have something really special. Like the shape and quality of DVD or DS cases with the dimensions of the UGC. Perfection. ;)

I have been thinking about your request Tyrannical, it's one of those things I have to really stop and think about.

I agree that the 8-dice DVD case's rounded / finished edges are nice... I think my main question is: Do people want these cases to look like UGCs? If not, I can totally make the cases the same dimension as the UGCs but do exactly as you are suggesting. (SO if you placed these new cases on the shelf with the older UGCs the case size and spines would appear the same size. (I gotta take some photos of an existing case I have as one of the many samples the factory gave me in the last shipment that I think would work.... style wise) Photos coming soon...

No it does not have to look like UGC.
It has to be durable, hold the carts well without modifying, fit all manuals, and yet not waste too much space.

100% Agree ... As long as it holds everything well and secure, if they look a little different so be it :) all you can see (at least on my shelf) is the spine, so that's all that matters :)
