how do you open the downloaded cover image? Whenever I hit "open" on the "dowloads" window, Wordpad opens with a bunch of symbols and images. How do I open it up with paint?

Wordpad? Now that's a weird allocation.....

just save it on your computer and then hit it with the right mouse button and choose "open with".....

EDIT: Never use MSPaint though.... The program downscales everything to 72dpi and ruins the picture quality....

It possible that you have your couter set to open JPEG files with the wrong software.

Upen Windows explorer and click on tools, then on folder options and last on file types.
Look for JPEG on that menu and see what program is assigned to open it.
