Pilotwings was kind of a happy coincidence, the artwork stretched over the spine... even though it required a little cleaning up it was simple enough to use the sky backdrop for the spine as well. Personally I like the uniform black look, but at the same time it's cool if some covers have more unique spines that break up the monotomy. I always figured I would judge on a case-by-case basis whether it'd be a good idea to do a non-black spine, and Pilotwings just proved to be the first cover I made where I think it fit best. I was thinking of making the SMW spine yellow, but I opted for the black one in the end. If there is interest, I could easily make alternate versions with different spines.

I threw together alternate versions of Dragon Quest V, Star Ocean and Super Mario World, with different spines.  I guess I could make a Pilotwings case with a black spine as well, it just kind of slipped my mind. I also converted the Final Fight cover to my template.

Dragon Quest 5 (Alternate)

Star Ocean (Alternate)

Super Mario World (Alternate)

I really like the colored spine look.

Great job, Jigsaw!

Here's the latest one...

Mortal Kombat

Painstakingly built from scratch, modeled after the retail box. The back looks slightly different, but the layout is mostly the same (I fixed a typo in the copyright information though  ;)).

Hi there Jigsaw, exciting work on the customs!

I noticed you seem to have covers of certain Super Famicom games (such as Mortal Kombat) that are not already on the site. Could you also provide the raw so someone else can make it into an original cover?

It would be great if for every custom cover there would also be one original cover.

If you don't feel like doing originals, perhaps you could provide the Raw and I'll do them for you.

Well, for Mortal Kombat, I didn't have any raw scans! I used graphics from other MK covers, and looked at the copy of the game right here in my shelf for reference on the layout. Every other cover I've posted here are built from raw scans or finished covers from this site. However, I'm waiting for a friend to scan a bunch of covers for me - I intend to convert all of those using my template, but I'll make sure to upload the raw scans as well when I get them.

I noticed a few small mistakes with the SF2 Turbo cover, so I fixed it and uploaded a new version... Doubt anyone grabbed it yet but I thought I'd mention it.

I just got hold of some nice, high quality Rockman artwork, so I decided to go back and revisit some Rockman covers I worked on before... Frankly I was never very happy with them, so I'm glad I got a chance to create better covers.

Rockman X

And here's one for those who want a more modern look...

Rockman X (Alternate)
