Hey Folks-

Upon cleaning out our storeroom in the back of the house, I discovered that I've still got 75% of one of those huge boxes of the Mediashelving universal cases, as well as a good-sized pile of DVD cases. I'd forgotten that they send out such a massive amount of them, and that after finishing my collection I'd just put all the rest into storage.

SO! I saw another thread where someone was looking for "a few" - But I'm looking for someone who could use the entire box. Ideally, I'd like to just fill in the gap with packing paper, slap on an address and some postage, and send it on its way to another gamer's home where they could be put to use. I'd like to prevent having to buy a bunch of boxes and make multiple trips to the post-office and paying a fortune in S&H.

Also, I'm not looking for payment. These aren't for sale or anything, I just want them to get put to use and give back to the site that was so totally helpful. However, postage gets to be really expensive for packages - so if the recipient felt like throwing enough in an envelope to cover the S&H and sending it my way, I definitely wouldn't mind! ;-)

I'll check back in later on tonight - I wouldn't like having to do a "first-response gets it" or have to choose a "winner" or something... so maybe you guys can decide on someone to send it off to, who can then divvy them up amongst a few others? Maybe we can just get a chain going where each one takes what they need and then sends it on to the next person in line? Lemme know what you come up with. Later! :)

(Also, yes I'm the same Invoice Ninja from the PA forums in case someone knows me from there. And before it's asked - if I had to guess, there's 70 or so Universal cases and maybe 30 DVD ones)

I'm not sure how to work out the logistics, or how much money I can afford to spend (finances are a bit tight at the moment), but I've got 30 or so loose games that I want to get UGC's for, and I definitely wouldn't mind a few more to spare (but not necessarily an additional 40!). Being in Sweden availability of these things isn't great of course, so a deal like this could be very helpful for me. Obviously, I don't expect you to pay out of your pocket to ship all that stuff over to me, but if we can work something out that'd be great. I'm sure there are more people interested though (and likely more able to help out with money, heh), so we'll see what happens.

Don't care much at all about the DVD cases, but I'd LOVE[!!!!!!!] to finally have some universal cases. How much is s&h for a package like that? IIRC from Mediashelving it was like $16 for most places in the US, but I might be wrong. If you just want to send one package, I wouldn't HATE to have more DVD cases... :D

Also, since 75 is way more cases than I need, I'd be sure to [ahem... attempt to] send them to other people as well. I think you should give it to whoever contributes the most to TCP and wants them as well. I'm somewhat far down on that list ($0 spent on boxes specifically for TCP, but about 60 covers), but here's what I think to be the people who contributed most to TCP, most not in a concrete order since I don't know exactly how much time/money each user puts into the project:

Snowcone - I imagine server costs are more than what other people spent on this project
TheValeman/wshbrngr - A shitton of N64 covers, including some with a hefty pricetag
Lumberjack42 - Bunch of custom DC covers, some other ones as well
shenske - A bunch of custom DC covers, as well as covers in many other areas, plus quite a few templates
Vt102 - Started and almost finished the Sega CD cover project, and I think some other stuff
mookyjooky - Hasn't been active for a long while and he's not coming back, but made a few templates and whatnot
Grumbleduke - older games and sometimes completely from scratch covers
Hexxxer - Despite not being a guru, I think he has more covers under his belt than I.
Doom - That's me! I haven't made as many covers as many of the other gurus, so I'm kinda low on the priority list if someone else wants them...

Those are just off the top of my head so don't be offended if I forgot someone.

Hey Doom - if you PM me an address I can ship it off to you this weekend. And then whatever you don't need you can always use to hook up Jigsaw or anyone else you've got in that list.   :)

It's really weird that especially US people are so keen on getting UGCs this way... You know you just have to sned a mail to mediashelving and 100 cases are on it's way to you brand new and not really expensive???

I got enough UGCs at the moment thanks to two real pals here at thecoverproject but other EU-People.....

I think people from outside the USA should be very high on the priority list if they want some because for THEM it is really complicated to get some UGcs.....
2 + 3 = 23

Right, the impression I got was that Doom could be the middle-man - that way instead of sending the giant, heavy package overseas for $bajillion, I could send it to someone here for the cheap who could then send what he doesn't use out to Jigsaw and Shenske in smaller, cheaper packages. I'm just waiting for his OK on that and then I should be able to send it off to you guys  :D

Works for me!  ;D

In all seriousness, yeah, since it is a bit more complicated for us on this side of the pond I would be really grateful if I was able to get a few cases - but ultimately I feel pretty much the same way as Shenske. There are logistics to work out and if I end up not being able to participate in this particular deal it is of course not the end of the world.

Shouldn't you wait a little bit for more people to see this? Or do you just not care? :D

Basically, I'm trying to speed things up because my biggest worry was having a lot of people respond, and then there's not enough for everyone and I have to start telling people "no", which would make me feel like a huge jerk. I'd rather get you first three taken care of and not having to let others down  ;)

EDIT: Also just a heads-up to Jigsaw that after using a few online postage calculators, it looks like the average going rate to Sweden is somewhere around $30-$50. Maybe there's a trick to cutting the cost down - I honestly have never shipped anything overseas  :-[

I have never shipped anything overseas either... :-\ Hell, I barely ever ship anything to begin with. :-X
I didn't agree to be a middle man of any kind, I just said "I'd be sure to [ahem... attempt to] send them to other people as well," meaning I'm no good with that sort of thing but it's simple enough that maybe I could pull it off.
tiktektak, I put myself way the hell towards the bottom of the list because honestly, I haven't contributed as much to the project as Snowcone, Lumberjack42, wshbrngr, etc. I wouldn't mind not getting any. You're right. I could buy a case of 100, but I have 10 N64 games. 100 is a little bit overkill, which is why I wouldn't feel terrible sending some to other people if it's not too hard and if the cost of shipping is covered.
And shenske is welcome to get a few UGCs if he doesn't need much and shipping is covered. 8) Overseas sounds a little more tricky so I dunno about that.

Does anybody know if USPS offers delivery confirmation with envelopes? I know they do with packages, but I never heard one way or the other with envelopes.

OK! I've think I've got it!

I've got roughly 70 UGC's to work with...
Doom wound up only needing 10
Shenske didn't specify, but wanted "a few"
Jigsaw wanted "30 or so"
Tiktektak said he's good at the moment

How about this: what if I were to stop being lazy & cheap, and put together three packages. I could do like a 20-20-30 split, throw in the DVD cases for whoever wants them, and then just make sure the postage I paid is listed on the mailing labels along with my return address - and then everyone's content!

How's that sound to everyone? I've already got Doom's address, so I'd just need the other two. Also it seems I also have 5 DS/GBA cases if someone wants to call dibs on those too. As long as I get the info I need, I should be able to ship those off maybe Tuesday or so.

Also Doom - sorry, after you pointed it out I just noticed that we totally shoe-horned you into being the middle-man. You're right, I'll take care of splitting it myself. At least the postage for you and Shenske should be nice and cheap, so I'm not too worried. Sweden though...  :o

I don't claim dibs on the DS cases since I'm getting a case of 30 soon and 5 wouldn't satisfy that. Thanks for giving back to the project Invoice Ninja!
