Right, but even though I don't care about the 3D funtionality, I would still buy a 3DS over a 2DS if and when I ever decide to get one.  Personally, I hope they come out with my idea so that I don't have to buy a 3DS.  The portability isn't really important for me since I would almost always play it in my home.  I would just rather have the game on a TV screen with a proper controller in my hand.

For the same reason, I'm hopping they bring the Vita TV over to the US so that I don't have to buy a Vita.

It is coming to the US as PlayStation TV later this year, it was announced at E3. http://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/playstationtv

Nice.  Did they mention the price?  (Sorry if it's in the link, I don't have time to check that right now).  If I remember, the one in Japan sells for the equivalent of $100 US.  The only disapointing part for me is that, other than Vita games, it only plays digital PSP games instedad of having a UMD drive.  But I guess that doesn't matter since my PSP has the video put port allowing me to play it on a big screen.

There is a theme here if you haven't noticed:  I like to play portable games on a big screen.
  GB/GBC/GBA - possible with Game Boy Player
  Game Gear - possible with my video out board which I plan to install soon
  PSP - includes video out port
  PS Vita - Vita TV coming to the US soon
  Neo Geo X - came with docking station with HDMI out
  Nintendo DS/3DS -........................ (I know about the capture boards, but that isn't quite what I'm looking for)

I really enjoy my Wii U for only a 2 reasons:

* Super Mario 3D World
* Mario Kart 8
There isn't really anything specifically special about the Wii U (as of right now) other than the fact that It is your only way to play the latest and greatest from Nintendo. My personal opinion is that Super Mario 3D World is the 2nd best Super Mario game out there, after Super Mario 64. And Mario Kart 8 is probably the best Mario Kart game we have had. I don't think the Wii U was worth it until these games came out as well as the newer ones announced at E3. Meaning the Wii U was pretty well worthless up until this past November when 3D World came out. With the addition of Super Smash Bros. and Zelda it will definitely be better than the Wii as far as games designed for the system goes. (I hated the Wii) And Nintendo needs to keep coming out with good games, I felt like there just wasn't very many titles for the Wii that I had to have (15-20 tops)

What can make the system itself special is what every Nintendo fan wants:

* More, more and more VC games for NES and SNES
* A bunch of N64 VC games
* A bunch of Gamecube VC gamesHaving one console that can play every home Nintendo Console game would be the specialerist thing ever 8)
With the GBA VC games on the market now it could handle just about every nintendo game ever with the addition of GB and GBC
Then what the heck make the attachment to play your DS and 3DS games on your TV+GamePad
GENIUS!!

It will be priced for $100, along with a $130 byndle with a controller, memory card and a game I think. I suggest having a look at the compatibility list for Vita games as there are a few big name titles that are not compatible with Vita TV, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games

Also Playstation Vita TV will continue to use proprietary memory cards just like the Vita.

This all in one console should have the ability to play every physical game ever released by Nintendo from ANY region AND have a built in hard drive and Wi-Fi to store VC downloads. Why aren't THEY thinking of this? Maybe they should before anyone else does.
