Dont get testy now.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Won't sell, reserve met or otherwise.  Just a way for GG and the guy to get some (more) publicity.

Gonna have to agree here. Dudebro that runs GG is not exactly well regarded in classic gaming circles for stunts like these.

I'd say dude would be lucky to get $500k for the lot, and even that's pushing it.

So, apparently...

Every bid that was over reserve was fake.

There's a large (and kinda entertaining) bitch-fest here if anyone wants to read:

There is no legal obligation that I'm aware of.  The only thing stopping you is negative feedback or banishment from eBay. :o

It is not confirmed, but it seems that the high bidder (peeps_10091970@********.com a/k/a ***** ****** of **** ***** *****, *****, ** ***** telephone (***) ***-****)

I'm not quite sure how I feel about Michael posting the dudes entire contact info (email/full name/address/phone number) on that thread. I get that he's trying to make a point, but now the entire world knows how and where to get ahold of this guy (assuming he is real)

It just bothers me.

(I of course starred out all the info, even though it's already online, I didn't want to spread it around even more)

That's entertaining for a short while, but it sure does get old quick.  It makes me appreciate that this site doesn't function that way.

It seems like there's a lot of hate on some sites to him.  I heard he's pulled a lot of stunts, but never seen any mentioned, and he seems nice.  I did know him like 8-10 years ago (Not very well mind you), when I was programming PCE stuff and hanging out with that crowd.  I know BT Gardner or something like that was talking to him about his Implode game.  Anyways he seemed really nice and helpful then.

Course there's a lot of forums that just decide to bash some groups, look at how Nintendo age and digi press react to each other.  While I've had a few issues on this forum (People miss-interpreting my actions as trying to show off, one-sided pissing contests, ect), TCP seems to be in general the friendliest console forum I've seen since I got back into it.

That's precisely why I've turned to posted here. You can find me on DP and see that I put in a LOT of time over there. I know a good number of the folks there personally, and it sucks to see how that place has fallen into such a state.

That thread has gotten a bit more interesting now within the past few hours, I think.

It's kinda hard to tell who's the dick over there, it seems like Dream to me, but it's so hard to tell reading in the middle of the forums.  And Michale (The GDG guy) has a mother with medical issues too, so not like he's not under stress already, so between that and being called out on forums, I can see him being testy.

And on the other hand, I wonder what the reserve is.  11,000 games at the 750,000 price the shills bid on, would be almost $70 a game. if you say 90% of the games were commons worth $10 each, that's 9,900 common games at $99,000 in value.  So that right there tells me Dream has to be undervaluing the lot.  the other 1,100 "rare" games in that setup, say they were averages to $50 each, some much higher, many much lower to average it out, that's another $55,000.  90% of his stuff was mint in box or at least cib, so I would expect it to be worth a lot more.  I could see 200-400k with ease with systems, but 750k is very high.

I think you're under valuing a lot of "everyday" games.  Any cartridge title in the Zelda, Metroid or Mario Franchise (post NES era) easily commands $20-$50 each.  Then the pokemon titles, Mega Man games, etc.  10 common games may be equivalent to  around $100, or it may be around $500.  Depends on the games.  WHile I agree 750k seems high, without knowing which titles, their condition, new or used, box no box, etc, it is impossible to calculate.  Hell, if this guy had a sealed copy of Earthbound, that alone is worth upwards of $500 by itself.
I am moving, and for the hell of it, when packing my games I decided to price each one's current value using price charter.  Out of about 1600 games, I am already up to $35k and only half done.  And I have very few "new" or "super rare" items worth tons of money.  In fact, most of mine are your basic "everybody has these" kind of games.  So I guess if this guy has some ridiculous stuff, it could command a high price.

ALSO, the fame.  This guy was the Guiness book of World Records holder.  Whoever bought it now can claim that title.  That could be worth it to some people.

*note, I didn't bother to actually read too deep into this, so if he has officially listed which titles he has and I have been mathematically dis-proven, then my apologies*

It's just bad all around. Both sides of this argument aren't doing anything to help their image, and there's at least one outsider who has been stirring the pot. (I get his point, but really, there's no need to drag it out longer like they have)

I've got a few friends who've gone through his catalog of games, and the $90-100k value isn't far off. The commons and filler he has wouldn't even average $10 each, even if they're in pristine condition. You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd. I think $200k is generous, and what a realistic ending figure should have been.

When you're talking about what each title goes for individually, (SMB3, Zelda, etc.) you're talking retail prices, and that can't be considered when taking on a huge lot like this. (that goes for any situation, really, if anyone is attempting a sale) Top-Dollar prices like that just aren't realistic in cases like these.

(and if you'd check that thread, the "fame" isn't all it's cracked up to be)
