JUNE 2014 Picks
Blumpkin:
I've seriously considered subscribing to Loot Crate, but then I take a look at all the past crates and think to myself, "I wouldn't spend $15 on this crap."
Even if you get a box themed for something you like you'll probably end up hating most the contents. Take the dragon box a couple months ago, I love Game of Thrones and Elder Scrolls, but hated almost every piece of merch that they gave you that month.
Mick Dundee:
I canceled my Loot Crate subscription when they said this months theme was "Transform". Not a big Transformers guy.
Got excited about the "Adventure" one...but gave EVERYTHING away from that one to my brother (Except bottle opener)
"Dragon" was my first crate, and I also gave most of that away. I don't want to dare eat Jerkey from a mystery box. I kept Skyrim dude and my vinyl GoT Ned.
Overall value. It might not be bad. It is a box full of stuff roughly valued at $40.....but its mostly $40 worth of stuff you probably wouldn't buy for yourself in the store most of the time.
Lashek:
I've not gotten my Lootcrate yet, but I think it arrives today or tomorrow.
I'm not excited about the Transformers lootcrate, I'm not a fan of transformers. At all. :(
I loved the Adventure lootcrate, and I enjoyed the Dragon lootcrate (the jerkey was pretty bad).
However, there is an alternative called Nerd Block that offers different types/genres for about the same price. I subscribed my daughter to Nerd Block Jr for Girls and she loves it. Just a shame that because it's crossing into USA from Canada that they have to tell everything inside the box for customs, so the surprise is gone before opening. :(
Ozzy_98:
Got the first part of a two part shipment:
DBZ Super Booty 2 (Or whatever it's called) was my first import, at 14, so 22 years ago. I remember the importer making a joke about dragging balls, and seeing how I was 14, it was a bit creepy. I'd never heard of dragon ball (Was a good 8+ years till I saw anything on it), I just NEEDED another fighting game for snes, I was desperate. So I decided to get the first game, third one's in the second part of the shipment. Bet it was customs-jacked, but then again it's not a shipment from Canada, so kind of doubtful.
When I added these to game collector, I did things slightly differently:
I used an actual cart pic, so if I'm looking for games, and find one I already have, I can tell if it's better than my current copy. A click of the little pic gives me
Also picked up a second QualysGuard
Don't worry, it's not some weird game system you've never heard of, it's a network security scanner. Something like this I'd normally wouldn't mention cause most people wouldn't give a shit here, but it was $10, and it's a PC. The VGA port is on the motherboard inside the case so I have to cut into it a bit, I've already put windows XP on it. Still need to get a usb network card on it, and then copy over my games to it, and install an old version of XBMC on it. I'm going to hook it up to my VGA -> Composite converter to run on the TVs down in the game room. When I get around to getting a HDTV down there, I'm also going to upgrade computers and start using HDMI out, but this was a cheap stop-gap.

I've had several people warn me off of them for exactly that reason - sometimes you'll get stuff you just aren't into.
...not that I'm saying Wiggy doesn't have diverse interests, mind you!

Well it was Transformers this month, and as far as nerdy shit goes, there isn't a whole lot that I like more than Transformers and I'm still very underwhelmed.
The t-shirt is really cool ("Marty McPrime", Back 2 the Future/Transformers mashup in old school G1 box art style). Honestly been wearing it for two days straight because Oscar (my 14 month-old) LOVES it lol! The other stuff is really nothing I'd ever spend a dime on, like others have said.
A transformers "Hex Bug". Cool little shitty toy... If you're a cat.
Transformers 3" vinyl super deformed-style toy. Sorta like Dunnies, but I don't want this thing.
Some sort of pro gamer association 1 month subscription, so I can "play competitively online". No thanks.
Also a pro gamer blah blah wristband, just in case I get super sweaty playing Call of Dookie.
A loot crate pin. This coincidently fell into my office trash can when I opened the box. Saves me some work.
3 Warheads candies (seriously). 2 Apple and 1 Watermelon. I hate both flavors.
A Transformers sticker.
Some sort of booklet/pamphlet. I didn't look through it since my box got soaked in the rain and the last 3-4 pages were pretty much laminated to each other.
The dragon box sounds like something that I would have zero interest in. Prolly just find some kid on the street to give it to.
Oh well. At least it wasn't a ton of money and I did get a discount on it. Maybe I'll post my referral code on the RCG Facebook page and get the remainder of my subscription for free :P
The good news is that these showed up. Very happy customer :D
