Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a site where I can order a copy of Final Fantasy III for the NES (translated into English)?  I prefer an actual NES cart, since I don't currently have a way to play famicom games (until the retron 5 comes out)
I am looking specifically for a site that DOES NOT require a donor cart.  I have come across two sites already, but they want a Super Mario 2 cart to convert it.  I don't mind paying for it, but I really don't want the hassle of tracking down and buying a moderately priced game, just to pay an additional fee on top of that.

If anyone knows anything, please PM me.  I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

I have an Everdrive N8.  This isn't about playing it, so much as it is having it in my collection.  SOme games I just simply want a physical copy of

Maybe ask politely could they track the donor for you.

I had one made by site that had stopped making it but did it anyway as I asked nicely.

SMB2 is not the only donor which can be used for that game and it's far from the cheapest. Lazy repro makers...

Well, my SMB 2 doesn't qualify as it has the NES seal in the corner, so I'm currently hunting down other copies at my usual spots.  Sometimes that stuff goes cheap.

That said, does anyone have any other cart suggestions that may work?  I do have a small amount of extra NES games lying around, and if one is cheap I wouldn't mind parting with my solo copy either

The cheapest I've found is $37, PLUS SMB2, but this is what the site says:
This reproduction requires a special version of Super Mario Bros 2. If you look at the bottom of the cart, all the pins must be there. Most SMB2 versions are like SMB3, with the middle pins missing and will not work. Another way to find the required donor cart is to look at the label. The correct version of SMB2 will not have the Nintendo quality seal on the bottom right corner.

I just checked my carts I have 1 of each, 1 without the Seal and 1 with. And there is definitely a difference in the pins. and I lied about the price I thought I got it for 5, i paid 15 for it but it came with a nintendo sleeve and the manual, so thats not to bad.

Thank you, Beastman!  That is perfect!  $45 is a bit more than the standard NES repro, but not having to mess around with a donor cart is more than worth the money, especially considering FF3 is one of those "special" carts.  I will probably keep my eyes peeled for a few more days, just in case, but more than likely I will be ordering this game by the end of the week.

Thanks!

FF3j isn't a standard repo.  if you use the large hack, it wnt fit normal boards, it uses more than 512 kb prg if you try the full translation, more than the mapper supports
edit: oh and smb2 doesn't have chr ram needed
