So I ran into a problem this weekend with my printer. When printing covers through Photoshop CS5, I'm getting really messed up prints that appear to be print-head alignment problems. I've redone the print-head alignment numerous times thinking this would fix it but it has not.

However, I then wondered how things printed from other programs and everything comes out perfectly fine. If I print straight from windows picture viewer for example, the images print as clear as photoshop used too. All my documents print fine as well, it just appears that Photoshop is screwed up and only when printing.

I've attempted to change Photoshop print settings numerous numerous times trying to fix this to no avail. Any suggestions?

For sake of argument, here is a sample of Tecmo Super Bowl III Final Edition for SNES using Photoshop as well as Windows Picture Viewer for printing (on regular letter size paper for testing).

The only thing I can think to check is when you click print in Photoshop check the settings to make sure the paper quality didn't get changed to "Fast Draft" on accident.

Nope, the print settings in photoshop are standard with High quality print (or Standard quality). Draft is unchecked and everything else is at default settings.

I've tried it both with Printer managing colors and with Photoshop managing colors as well and still get the same results.

^^^ if you're gonna go that route, start with the printer divers first. A LOT less time required to do so versus re-installing 'Shop.

Just went into the printer for the PC and deleted the driver/package under "printui.exe /s /t2" and then reinstalled.

No resolution to the issue, however. :(

Every other program continues to print fine. This has got to be the strangest issue I've encountered. :|

Uninstalled Photoshop, rebooted, and reinstalled. Also tried CS2 and CS6 as well as CS5. All do the same thing.

Not sure what's different, but nothing I can seem to do at this time to fix it.

Did you actually go into the drive and make sure all the files were deleted? Sometimes there is some files that are left behind after an uninstall .

I actually installed to a different drive. Typically, I install apps I use the most to my SSD. This time around, I deleted the Adobe folder in C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\ and then installed into D:\Adobe (my programs drive).

My OS is Windows 8.1, no recent updates installed, no recent programs installed or changed.

Yeah, I took a look.

I tried all the tricks mentioned in that thread and nothing worked. Print Preview looks perfect as well, it's only the actual printing that is wrong... and only when done through photoshop. :(
