It's nice, and if it has the up scaler it promises........ But it's still a bit on the pricey side for me.

I saw that earlier. I think it's ugly, and over priced. It doesn't even have HDMI as a standard. I can't see any reason to ever purchase this.

Did you see the comments? Dude better lower it to at least $150 or think about a cheaper casing. I saw someone mention a modded xbox. How do you do that because i would be all over it.

and for $49 extra, you can get an HDMI adapter
Adapter, meaning they change the VGA output to HDMI.

The web site is also idiotic:

The Nt uses original Nintendo components

Not to mention that the legality of the system is also questionable.
They then linked to NoA's page on emulation.  If this is using original Nes parts, it's not going to be anything questionable about it's legality.  It's legal.

This isn't about playing the games, it's about the "art" of the console.  And a solid block of aluminum isn't art.  It's an unfinished wheel for my car.

And even if it can do 1080 graphics, it won't be GOOD scaling.  So you won't see stuff like this:

Waaaaiiiit.  This says it's using Nintendo parts.  It has VGA out.  You can't do VGA with a nes, you have to sacrifice a PC-10, something much more rare and valuable

Not to mention that the legality of the system is also questionable. We've reached out to Nintendo about whether they will try to block the sale of the Nt, and will update this story if we hear back.

How on earth is there any sort of question regarding legality?!  The patents are WAY up for the NES/Fami and this is just a piece of hardware, not bootleg software. There's nothing about it that could be a patent or copyright violation.

That said, I still think it's a rather unattractive chunk of hardware. The whole "solid block of aluminum" thing only matters if it's at all attractive.   It just looks like a plastic clone to me :-\

Only place I see even mentioning the legality of it is yahoo. I think they're getting it confused with emulators.

Putting a playchoice PPU in a NES wont give you VGA out, it'll get you RGB out with an incorrect colour palette. To get proper RGB out from a NES you can buy Viletim's newly released NESRGB board. No saccing required.

For this to be using original hardware and have VGA/HDMI out it'll have Viletim's RGB board and a small upscaler. At a guess i'd say this is using a modified version of the Super8 NES and the NESRGB board running into a Gonbes 8220 upscaler with a small SLG. Impossible to tell until someone opens one of these up though.

I did not know anyone made an RGB board for the nes that didn't involve destroying a nes ten.  Looks like he's out of stock though.

Hiding somewhere in the faq on Analogue Interactive's site is the mention that they're essentially harvesting the CPU and PPU off of a cache of yellowed famicoms they found somewhere.  So it's legit Nintendo chips.

The famicom's PPU can't do RGB, so people were taking apart the arcade versions.  Looks like not long ago, someone figured out how to make a NEs RGB board, http://etim.net.au/nesrgb/
So if that DB looking port is for VGA (Im not sure it is), something isn't right.

Course, I've been having nes with VGA out for almost 11 years now.

Oh, I know all about Tim's board... and the one being developed at http://www.universalppu.com, etc etc.

I actually intended that to be a response to Azarkhel's comment about it being the guts of a Super8, but I was quite frankly lazy on my quoting :D
